how to run CO2 during lights off?

Y

I am going to run two flip flop rooms with AC and CO2 in one, and vent between the two. How can I maintain a certain PPM level when the lights are out, in the room that the sensor is in?

Hmmmm....Am I correct in assuming you want to have the CO2 hitting the other room that the sensor isn't in, correct? I believe most of those have a photocell, which for you is no bueno, as it'll shut off.

IMO, you should just CO2 one room, and run the other with good ventilation, or get an identical setup for the other room.

I have a similar setup: the soil room has a co2 generator with a cyclestat timer and a control wizard temp/humidity controller, turns on exhaust fan and turns off co2 if it gets too hot/humid (although it never gets too humid, I have a dehum in the sealed co2 room). The lights and co2 generator are both air cooled and sealed in the soil room. Cyclestat comes on for 5 minutes every hour to replenish the co2, can't wait to buy a legit sensor for the genny. Anyhow, the biobucket room is on the other side of the slip, with barebulb reflectorized lamps (total of 3-600's in each room) and good ventilation (well, now it is, had to upgrade my exhaust to handle the extra load of cooling the soil lights and co2 generator). It works well, what kind of grow media are you planning on using?

Sorry for the rambling, extremely high on honey oil. ;)

Hmm, if you use a timer instead of a sensor for the CO2 I could do it with a duct fan, a duct y, one N/C damper and one N/O damper, but I don't think it would work great. I think two setups would be best, they could share propane at least!

number 50... hit up the Pm's. sorry any way If you have a veg room and a flower room you dont need the Co2 at night. if you have two flower rooms and are trying to run both rooms with one meter it is gonna be tuff. otherwise turn your co2 off at dark. your veg plants dont need it...

do people read the thread or just post away based on the title? Seriously Mrdizzle, read what I took the time to write...

2 flip flop rooms. That means two flower rooms, running 12/12 at opposite times. So one room will always be lights on, and the other lights off.

This grow is budget o rama. I am using all existing equipment and I only have one 24K btu A/C, one CHHC-1, and one genny. Next cycle I may splurge for more equipment.

I wasnt planning on dampners. Just controlling temps, DH and CO2 in one room, then using a 6 or 10" fan to pull from one room to the other and a passive intake elsewhere between the two rooms. Basically both rooms would have the same environment 24/7.

Not optimum but I dont have $1500 to run another A/C, DH and co2 setup

My dilema is the CHHC-1 does have a photo sensor and works CO2 during the day only. I need to find a way to give that sensor light all the time or rig the sensor. I was thinking of a light box with a CFL but it would be a PITA to keep the light in and get enough air flow into the box to monitor CO2 levels accurately

heres a quick pic of the previous grow just so you know this isnt my first rodeo :D

We've got to find a way to trick the sensor.....

The one room has the CO2 machine and the A/C......that room exhausts good air (and by good i mean CO2 rich and cool) into the adjacent room......is the dehumidifier in the same room as the CO2 generator?

to trick the sensor, you could find some green LED lights and put them right next to the sensor......hopefully the sensor will still read the green wavelength and it will be tricked into remaining in the "ON" positon 24 hours a day.....the green light should not interrupt the flowering process, but if you wanted you could probably seal the green light so that only the sensor can see it.....

:ying: kind regards from guineapig :ying:

GP that may be a good idea. Even if I had to get a red, yellow or white LED like from a flashlight, I could put the LED right onto the photocell, and tape over it. The LED would be small enough that I could just tape over it sealing the light, but allowing the rest of the sensor open to get accurate readings. I doubt a LED would get hot enough to cause problems, would it?

I know you can adjust the light sensitivity of the photocell, so I could turn the sensitivity way up.

Now where can I get a single LED and power it up? radioshack?

Thanks alot, great idea.

I have a 110v LED taped over the light sensor of my multi speed fan controller, because the sensor isnt in the space thats lighted, its in a space I keep dark and it has a remote probe to measure the temperature. It doesnt get hot and works fine that way. Its easy to do. I used a bare LED and soldered it onto the end of a plug wire, but you could also get a premade tiny little led nightlight, I see them at the grocery store all the time. It will be easy to block the light from getting on your dark plants.

Yup you guys got there just before me... Duct tape and an LED.. Or like GP said you could try a small green compact flouro that would just be on all the time.. Either would be a cheap fix.. Let us know what ya do.

I want to avoid a green light because even though its supposed to be safe, I have heard some arguements against that.

I would love to use an LED and cover it.

Anymore suggestions on a easy to convert/use LED system? I am going to Home depot, maybe I will check there for nightlights??
