Ok so Most of the pics I see on grow forums are either yellow or purple, except for the flouro photos.
Do you want to see what your plants look like without the color overtones of the lights you use?
1 - Your camera , and newer smart phones should have a white balance setting. IOS 8 has it but Im not sure about androids. Either way, go into the menu of the camera and look for a AWB or white balance setting. Grab a sheet of plain white paper. If you have an AWB (Auto White Balance) , hold the paper under the light and take a shot of the paper. This will usually set the camera to compensate for the yellow or purple hues and your photos will look more natural. More advanced point and shoots and all dslrs will have white balance or AWB built in.
Fiddle around till you get it tuned in.
2 Grow lights are BRIGHT. Most modern cams and phones have auto exposure built in. However , you can adjust this in your settings , so your photos wont be washed out and overly bright with no definition.
Again dig around in the menus and look for exposure settings , if your pics are dark, turn up, if theyre too bright , turn it down.
3 Shutter Speed / ISO . Ever took a pic and it came out blurry because the fans were blowing stuff around a little too hard?
Your shutter speed was a little too fast. ISO 80 , is the slowest on my cam, you have to use a tripod to keep it focused and its used for low light situations and taking closeups of small stuff. ISO 1600 is the fsatest and is used for high light photos. My suggestion is ISO 400 to 800 for grow shots but do experiment for best results.
Theres alot more stuff in modern cameras , but these three are the ones I use most for grow shots.
Hope this helps and you can shoot better bud porn for us all.
4 "Edit" I also strip photos of personal data too. Its easy if you run windoze. Find the pics on the camera after youve plugged in the usb. Select all the photos and right click. Click "properties". hit the "details" tab. Click the " Remove properties and personal information". Click the "remove the following properties from this file" radio button. Then hit the "Select all" button. Click Ok , then your all set to upload non incriminating photos to your site of choice. Please use a proxy if you live in a non legal state lke myself.
