How to keep a closet cool without drilling holes?

Hello IC members :)

I will be setting up a bedroom closet that has no windows, just a door. I cannot cut any holes into the walls or door. I have a 600w MH/HPS ballast with a hood (with glass enclosure) but no fans other than one oscillating and one floor fan. The layout looks like this:

This closet is located in a bedroom with a window air conditioner to cool it down. What would be a good way to circulate the air into and out of the closet?

You could hang a wet towel in the closet and the floor fan will evap the water off cooling the air in the closet.
the downside is it will raise your RH so you gotta check that to see if it's too much. Or maybe you could use an increase?

If you need it cooler, you can wrap ice cubes in the wet towel and that will help more but you might want to put a small container underneath to catch any drops.

You are gonna need a fan that ducts AT LEAST out of the closet. Need more information before I could give specific instructions.

A 600 in a sealed closet wouldn't work. With the door open and a fan you could maybe pull it off but the plants would be far from light. Sounds like a bad idea.

Use a 4ft T5 6-8 tube rack...very little heat, if this house is a renter, you could buy a secondhand closet door and have inlet and outlet fans in your door, no dissing the landlord..?

Really.. A wet towel with a fan on it will make cold air.

The evaporation takes heat away from it's surrounding to happen.

Home Depot sells interior doors for like $20. Maybe you cannot cut a hole in what is there now, but you can go buy another door on the cheap and replace the good one with yours. Cut holes in the door for exhaust and intake (add an exhaust fan, you need it) and use a little extra ducting so the door can swing open and closed. For an inspection or at move out you just take your door off and put back the good one. Problem solved.

This is the way to go. Evaporative coolers are fine, but do not expect a wet towel and a fan to effectively cool a sealed 600w room. No way. No how. Actually, one of the worst bits of advice I have seen for a while, and coming from a senior member I cannot comprehend the logic there if it is not malicious.

Yes, buy your own door and do what you wish. What is the size of your closet? Do you really need a 600w? Lower wattage=lower heat. Do you have a variable wattage ballast? Good luck. -granger

well if you decide to cut a hole in the ceiling you can use one of these to fix it when you need to:

The place I rented some years back looked like swiss cheese when I was done. But I had some friends in the drywall biz and it ended up looking BETTER than it did.

Also what are you going to go with the ballast? You must be planning to leave it in the room somehow and have the cords running under the door or through it?

Heat rises so something up higher to exhaust the closet is pretty much what you're going to have to do somehow.
