I'm in the same situation almost. I was trying to figure this out this afternoon. I have a 6" Vortex and a Can50 and 6" flange. If you take the flange and place it over the flange that is a part of the Vortex you will see it is a pretty good fit. Just a little aluminum tape to completely seal it. To attach the flange to the filter, use the sticky foam rubber strip that's included with the flange to center over the open end of the filter. I think I have it right.

Don't forget to use self-tapping metal screws to secure the flange to the filter. If you just use sticky foam tape it won't be attached securely.

I used some Gorilla Glue on two 2600 filters and it worked well. We'll see now easy it is to remove the flanges in a few months!
