How to determine the harvest time of plants

Hey, try this link. There should be enough information coverd by all these threads.

I don't think there is one single, simple answer. But most people judge harvest time by the color of the trichomes I guess.

There are several things that can indicate when to harvest. All white pistils have turned dark and curled in, plant slows or stops drinking, depending on nutrients...fade like trees in autumn, and then the ole trich check. It's more a whole plant thing than just 1 indicator.

As OP said there is multiple factors who tell you a plant is good for harvest, the pistils changing colors, the calyxes being swollen, the fading who occurs if not given too much nutrients, the water intake of the plant who will lower a lot close to maturity and the color of the trichomes all over the plants who give her a silver/withe shade, keeping track of the days the plant flowered is useful also. In general it's better to not harvest too soon but not too late neither even if this is harder.

WowI thought you must be a veteran grower, skilled at observing the conditions of plant growth.

Transparent stage: The trichomes are transparent, the THC content is low and the potency is weak.
Milky stage: The trichomes turn milky white, indicating that the THC content has reached its peak, the cannabis is most potent, and it brings a stronger sense of excitement.
Amber stage: The trichomes turn amber, and some THC is converted into CBN. The cannabis will have a more sedative and relaxing effect when harvested.
If you want a higher THC content, you can harvest when the trichomes turn milky white.

I've done it the same way for nearly 20 years... works like a charm for me.

Count the amber in 20 trichomes. Do this on 2 or 3 different places on the same flower. Take the average of them.

1 Amber trichome in 20 is 5% amber
2 is 10%
3 is 15%

I chop at 15%

Smoke it at diff stages, look for overall ripeness and consider the plant will keep ripening as it dries.JMO

Trichs WILL turn amber before the calyx swells... Swell first then trich color to judge readiness.
