How to convert Inches to SQ FEET?

hey guys i got a

Cab I want to put a 400 watt HPS in but i cant decide if i have enough room now im running a 150 and my temps are like 72 to 74....

Width - 28
Depth - 14

l x w =ft2
l x w xh =ft3
just multiply your dimensions and divide by how many inches are in a foot squared.
if you don't know how many inches are in a ft, then i will lose all hope in mankind.

14 x 28 = 392 ÷ 144 = 2.7 sq ft.....same as my cab

a 150 is perfect...400 is waaaayyyy too much power
you may be able to do a 250 ..but imo it's not worth it
my suggestion would be to learn how to scrog or get a bigger cab

i regularly pull just short of 1/4lb with my setup...and yeilds up to 170grams have been done with 150's in a circular scrog

thats 14x28x44 divided by 12 or buy 144 i think its 144 in a sq foot

(14/12) x (28/12) = 2.72 sq/ft

sq/ft is just length x width. since its in inches you just divide by 12 to convert it to feet (there are 12 inches in a foot).

I got 4 plants SOG i think ill be around 1.5 to 2 ok i guess for my first grow.

i think ill look into a 250 and u dont think i could do a 400 that sucks i really was hopeing for that i still think i might try 400 and just put a piece of glasss under the cool tube i have a stanley but IdK i would hate to drop 120 on a 400 to find out my temps are 100

420-g, you already have 55watts per sq. foot, which is excellent. Your 150watt is producing 525 BTU of heat. A 250w would give you 92w /sf which is a little much. It would also produce 875 BTU of heat. Right now ,your temps are great. Don't fuck with a good thing.

Original poster sofakingweetoddid.....One foot = 12 inches and two feet = 24 inches and three feet = 36 inches and 4 feet = 48 inches....each foot is 12 inches dude...remember that ok lol!

Your grow space measures 44 inches tall/height and 28 inches wide and 14 inches deep.

soooo here we go....

44 / 12 = 3.6666667'

28 / 12 = 2.3333333'

14 / 12 = 1.1666667'

So your growspace measures 3.6666667' Tall(height) by 2.3333333' wide(length) by 1.1666667' deep.

To find the square footage we'll take the Length and multiply it by the depth so here is how it should look on paper....

2.3333333' x 1.1666667' = 2.7222223' squared.


Biggest light you'll be able to use is a 250w HPS or MH but I'd just stick with the 150w HPS if you plan on staying in that cab....it wouldn't help you yeild much more in that cab with a 250w HPS or MH...buds may get a little denser which will add a little weight but not much....stick with the 150w HPS a SCROG in that cab...that should help your yeilds some....if you can get a 2' x 2' cab that is about 4-5' in height and then get a 250w HPS or MH.

I use a 430w in a 23"x35" closet and imo if you keep the area cool enough so the plant does not stress you can pack in 80-100 watts/sqft
