how to build a RDWC system

I am trying to find plans or some kind of detailed info on how to build a 6 bucket recirclating DWC system. I been on you tube and online , I found alot but not detailed enough to be able to build one on my own . I know if i had a parts list and a decent plan i would not issues building one . does anyone know where i can find this info ? I rather build to save money . besides i want to build 2- 6 bucket systems .

Thank for any help, tips info you have

There are many options to choose from, ultimately you probably want to emulate an undercurrent system, as that particular system has been proven to be rather exceptional.

Many believe that uniseals are the best option to make quick and painless plumbing, however there have been reports of failure on the curvature of a 5 gallon bucket. A common fix to this is to use cat litter buckets (the square ones) or totes.

A simply google search will show you how to DIY a bulkhead fitting with EMT parts. This is a tried and proven effective method, especially on the relatively flat surface of the tote or cat litter bucket.

Another secret to success is to go big on your recirculating pump, mag drive pumps again are proven to be effective when pushing against the required head and restrictions.

The other thing that I can suggest is to go big with the air pump. Don't bother with the GH 4 port pump, go for the pondmaster deep air pump, ap-40 is a good one. There is no such thing as over oxygenating.

A float valve can be modified to fill from a raised tank (use a tote on some cinderblocks) and a toilet bowl float valve repair assembly. This eliminates some of the daily maintenance, and gives the system an extra bit of stability.

Just because you go diy doesn't mean its necessarily cheaper, I do think the UC systems are a bit overpriced, but they have eliminated all the guess work, and considerable internet research time to make a wonderful system. Also don't underestimate the value of your time.

For other suggestions, check out the diy thread.

Hope this helps mate!
