How the heck to build a venturi???

Awhile back a guy posted on airating a fish pond using a venturi effect. I get the basics of how it works, however i have yet to see a nice clean design of one. Did a google search as well that turned up a few links that were somewhat helpful..

I am thinking of incorperating this design into my MAGIC TRAYS Rez, as my pump could serve two purposes. One to pump to the feeder lines. As well supercharge the Rez water with oxegen at the same time.

Anyone have some good info on how to build a venturi, used primarily in fish ponds?????

I also didn't really find any links of these things being for sale.

i hope this is what you where looking for...
pump>3/4(1/2")tubing>"T">feeder lines>stopper
after "T" put a 1/2turn valve and use the end of the hose to ciculate or point it up so that it shoots the water up!

hope that what you wanted..

Basically and in out with the valve / hose thing adding air as the water rushes by

Blunt, the hose needs to be small in diameter and placed towards the end of the hose near the output. Basically a venturi works because of the low pressure created by the moving water which sucks in air through the hose. This works at the end of the line because the output (end of line) is a shorter distance and larger opening which means the path of least resistance. If you put that thing you created right after the pump, it's going to pump water out of that tube because it's so close.

Basically you need to put these venturi air hoses near the output (end) of the lines and the distance through the air hose should be longer and smaller than through the output. Also the venturi going up will make it harder for the water to push up the wrong way.

Hope this helps. :2cents:

do you have a 45 cut on the side opposite the 3 little vees? yhis 45 angle should be on the down current side. In one of my pics you can see the 45 and the 1 vee on that one.
