I just picked out some beans from a recent harvest and was wondering if i could germ them right away or do i need to wait a certain amount of time first ?

Thanks in advance fellas

ive had seeds fall out of plants into the pots and sprout.. .. they say drying.. the seeds.. and then refrigerating htem.. then germing them acts like the natures way of going into winter.. and then warming up and germing later on in the season.. ?

i have no probelm with germ rates.. an dif i do. i pop the seeds open and usually solve the problem .

There is a discussion about the sheath coating the seed as a new seed. I have heard the membrane is a little more rigid on fresh, fresh seeds, but curing not only cycles a seasonal order [stated above] but might help brake down the membrane....matchboxes are popular because of this.

Some people get into nicking fresh seeds, but it takes practice, planting right away doesn't hurt either, especially in good soil, the microbes will eat that membrane away too....

dry for a week and they are good to go :)

seeds can and will germ as soon as they drop from there pods... but drying them and curing them will deff help the germ rates to some degree.

IMO You can germ straight off the bud... For storage. . A good cure is a must..

These were from seeds I missed in the dirt from a seed grow last year.
Placed outside over summer... Free smoke..lol..

I have germed beans right off the plants with good rates. If your going to store them best to dry them out well to avoid mold and other nasties.
