How safe is it to post grow diaries on ICmag?

I think as long as you tell no one at all, things would be fine...
I do know that the po-po's have monitored threads before but the bigger grow diaries and people got busted..
every computer has a certain id on it and that is traceable too...its called your ip address..

It's relatively safe to post growlogs on icmag. Yeah each computer does have an ip address but the good thing is, The police etc do not have icmags servers to log the ip's checking into icmag.
2 they would have to get a warrant in order to obtain information about your internet usage from your isp, so unless they are investigating you your safe and sound.
3 even if they do investigate you and find your ip address frequents icmag in these day and age they have to actually prove your pc was the one used for logging into the site, That is hard to do now that wifi is so popular, Just drive down the road with a laptop and look at all the available networks you can connect to, Many are security protected networks but even more are unsecured networks.
Easy for anyone to connect to your unsecured network and use it to access the site.
Doesnt hurt to keep your cookies clear no pictures of pot on the computers none stored on memory cards or on the pc etc etc, Keep your internet browsing history clean so if they rush in with a warrant and take your pc etc they dont have any evidence of your visiting the site. All they know is that your IP address accessed the site no proof it was actually your pc.
Keep web history clean do a full format and reinstall windows every 6 months to help keep your system clean as you can.
I wouldnt worry much about posting grow logs its pretty safe on icmag...
much safer than showing anyone else your grow in real life

I always figured that it would take them getting into ICmag's server to track you down and even then it would be a fat chance. So, as long as they don't OG the IC (God willing that doesn't happen) there is no chance.... Unless of course your dumb, and give yourself away in a picture.
Like JJ said, they would have to be at the server to get the IP address, unless they are actually investigating you, then they could request your history from your ISP. But all that proves is you visited the site, not sure if they can get pics and data that was transmitted. I suspect not.

ISP's have a history of handing over information to cops without a warrant. If cops are motivated to have a look, they'll find a way, particularly in today's (il)legal climate. Then there is what I call the "humans are shitheads factor;" some mid-level schmuck at Time Warner Cable or whatever it is might fancy a looksy at random. I used to work for ATT UVERSE; snooping is pretty easy. It's a one in a million that either of these things will put you in any kind of real world risk, but it is a possibility.
Alas, this place satisfies our human need to show off, ask questions and be surrounded by like-minded people. You could post on ICMAG from a public wifi hotspot with no passcode every single day, and it's 10,000,000,000 times safer than telling even one person you grow. Bank on that.

i hear you on isp's, no point in trusting them
i use an encrypted proxy, isp can't see the data and can't see the actual ip that i'm connected to
The police don't need this web site to find out who is growing. You cross the red line when you start selling the shit, when you go down this road every contact you make leads to you. The red flag has been raised. Investigators in the police are very skilled at their job, don't give them the ammunition to make you the target. That's why I don't sell and never will.

if you are really worried about it buy a subscription to a VPN service such as strongvpn.com ; world-secure-channel.com ; hqhost.net ; vpnpronet.com ; volcan.co.nz ; smallvpn.com ; canhost.us ; blacklogic.com ; vpnmaster.com ; sharevpn.com ...
Strong imo is the best I use it to play online poker turnies only available to non us residents they mail pay outs to US addresses the IP just has to be outside the US.

Thats a load dude. They are not skilled at their job. They dont think about whether its Medical MJ. They will arrest you all the same, especially here. Talk from experience hc, I have never profited of MJ in anyway and I have been done before fucking badly, still going through the courts. Try and give your advise to someone who has lost their home to proceeds of crime for growing their own medicine/ without profit. Kinda naive to tell people that if they dont sell they will be okay. Theres alot to think about. They are looking for a conviction, they dont care who you are, how much money you make. If you are already worried about your security, not the best idea to start a log. It draws unnecessary attention..Log your grow, upload it when you have harvested. Peace goodluck

i tend to disagree. where I live there is no such thing as medical marijuana, any plant is illegal. Police investigators in this country are highly trained, if someone killed my mother I want them to track the culprit down, arrest and get them convicted.
I have worked with police investigators in another role, once they get going they do not stop. They are like a dog on a bone and good at it. Forensic investigation is based on every contact leaves a trace. Your first buyer is the first contact, it multiplies from there. Your first purchase at a hydro store is a contact, there are lot's of trails available for an investigator to follow.
Everything you do in relation to growing has to be considered carefully. Keep safe.

Using vpn or any other means of communication where your identity is protected only by the word of the operator is highly risky, even if you use a vpn like ipredator.se(the dudes behind thepiratebay)
You will be 90% "safe" if you register a new user(against the icmag rules) that everyone understands is you without beeing obvious, then use a proper proxy(anonproxy) to register, upload picture and write the thread with, and you have to make sure never to log in to the account unproxied, atleast not from you home addy.
You will be 99%(you may still fuck up) safe if you drive around until you find a private open wifi network and do the above, however its not really that important to use a proxy, but it would be wise to cover your tracks by not giving out the generic ip, you never know whats logged and can be traced back to you. So atleast force another ip/ipv6/mac adress on your wifi before you connect to a private open home network, tho make sure to have your firewall on.
100% safe = No posting.
So in other words and atleast in my world; its not an option to post any grows on this site, no matter how much i wanted to show you this insane hogXbigbud fist size bud
And btw anonproxy is a program not a website and it can be located by downloading the dangerous kitten jpg but be warned as encyclopedia dramatica says "This is serious shit and has been known to cause drama and IRL Ban Hammers. Actually using this might get you v&. The information on page is provided for educational purposes only". Tho the warning is meant for other programs in that package. Im sure it can be located elsewhere tho, but this is an updated version. Oh and remember to turn off your antivirus before you unpack the picture, or everything will be deleted, the programs contained are harmful indeed, but not to the user, unless he is suicidal or careless.
