How often do you FIM or TOP your plants

Been reading so many treads on topping and fiming most of the day today.
I am getting prepped for toping session with my plants for tonight.

The one thing I couldnt find a straight answer to.. How often do you fim or top your plant.
I heard 1 week, 3 weeks, as soon as you se a new growth, 1 month.
But in reality is it safe to fim on a weekly basis. Probably not. Will it stun the plant if you top everytime you see a new growth. Very likley.

How often is safe?
Also I learned that FIM allows bottom colas to catch up and top creates new colas up on top. Is this correct?

Alot is actually strain dependant. Some gals love to be topped and such. Some do not like it at all. I don't know what you are working with so it's hard to tell ya what to do. If you are unsure if the strain or strains take well to topping,do some LST action on em. Tie down the top and go from there. Or top one and LST some others and examine what happens. Then you will be able to come back and tell us........this strain responds well to topping....or this strain responds better to LST.Wishin ya the best. Keep us posted on your results.

I am working with OG Kush and this lady does not like rough handling. I went to the tent with scissors, ready to top but ... So wield, when you look at the top you can tell that it will not work. I am on my iPad and will post pictures tomorrow... You guys will tell
