I'm not in a situation where they would make much sense. I will go all seeds or all clones.
Saving time isn't the point, though it's a nice side benefit. The point is saving genetics. Seeds from the same mom do not always smoke the same. When you find the magic donor, cloning allows you to keep the genes going.
I thought the point was uniformity.
I didnt know it was a time issue either..I think you save about 2 weeks veg from cloning..Maybe a month..I just think I can get a plant bigger in a month than the size that most people take as cuttings..Probably depends alot on growth factors....but clones will definetly save you time.

Also, I like running my strains twice before culling them. I almost tossed a church pheno but the second time around this thing is a beauty! Seems like the buds grew more dense and the calyxes were bigger on the second run.

Clones will save time because they are mature plants from the start, and the side benefit is being able to turn 1 plant into 10 or more guaranteed females in 7-10 days once your going.

FreezerBoy is correct, guaranteed females, the clone will be identical to the mother plant, exactly the same characteristics, same genetics, that's how you maintain a strain, mothers and clones.

Another added bonus but, still just gravy. If it's not fit to smoke, it's not fit to grow, uniformly or otherwise.
clones are a known quantity and you can grow them better each time, they save you a few weeks.
