just wanted to know how many Watts you NON-LICENDS users are getting away with? i know i can get away with 2k... anyone running 3k safely?

i got away with anywhere from 5-12kw over a 2 year period. in a 2000sqft 3 bedroom house

electricity and grow lights are only related when you smell of ganja. you dont have anything to worry about. just pay your bill

3k if you count lights, heat, ac, fans, pumps, etc for 1.5 years -2400 in lights but broke the golden rule and will be taking the summer off for safety sake, stupid me is all I can say. Rule 1: never tell, rule 2: see rule 1, rule 3: live by rule 1 & 2! Never tell a soul!

If you are worried about the extra consumption you should make your home energy efficient you can reduce your consumption of electricity by 2-5k watts easy .


And as mentioned above, just pay your bill and they dont care..... hell my electric bill is fn rediculously high... 3ksqft house with a pool, hottub lots of landscaping lighting ... AC/Heat... my bill runs 6-800 a month last july I got one for 997... I put myslef on bill averaging after that one

In many cases it's about paying your bills; Not too many visitors; Your neighborhood. People in nice neighborhoods have nice things(Jacuzzis-sunbeds-and so on). Just to be safe, run your system watts 24hrs a day. 2 Flowering rooms 12&12. It's not a bad thing to be paranoid. My friend ran 7K for years until he got a wife.

Heh.... well we blew 2 transformers last month.... + 50kw genset.... its not about how much power it about how to filter it.. i highly recc 220 or 480 over 110 0r 120. matter of life and death. Oh and my last bill was around 2600$ but we pay around .91/kwh so ..... life sux oh well..

..... we run a 24hr avg of 5.9kw for the girls plus my household use (the gentleman farmers walk by lantern at night, log TV and stero use.. limit 2 hr's for each a day and bbq any food we can) and i was a little frisk about our up in kw's when we added some lights and a full breeding room. Yah I am moving asap, 240 cuts the ammount of amp's in half, 1kw bulbs run 9.5 amps running at 110, at 220 they are half about 4.5. If it ark's you, it would not do too much damage, but if that 110 ark's ya coming from more than 15 recepticals, your looking at some serious amp's. With 220 you might walk away.

220 saves you litterally no money, and is dangerous if you have kids. Kids tend to plug the wrong shit into the recepticals.


A note on stealing power, if you must never take it all, just your room's worth.

Voltage kills, not amps.


240V is going to shock the shit out of you, compared to 110V.

480V will likely kill you.

Actually it is the amperage that does the damage...and 240v, 277v or 480v are more likely to blow you off the hot leg whereas 120v is more likely to make your muscles contract - which is BAD if you grabbed ahold of something.

As an example, stun guns often run at 100,000-600,000+ volts...but the amperage is extremely low so that no permanent damage is done.

Sorry Neptune, he is correct, amperage kills....

Volage is potential so it is equivialnt to pressure head in a fluid system
and potential in a mech system (how high is the mass before it starts moving).

Amperage is a flow rate so is analigous to cfm or velocity.

so.... It is amperage that kills in an electrical system, not voltage. It how fast
the rock is moving when it hits, not how high it fell from.

Having said that.... a current(amperage/amps) of as little as 100ma can cause heart failure and death.

I'll settle it; ..................................don't touch it!!! I've wired for many years now 110 more properly 120, will shock you and under certain circumstances kill you. 220/240v will do serious damage anything above that and I could smell you from here, lol.
Use wisdom and if you are'nt sharp in this field get some "pro" to wire it for you. Lathe, kiln or your Father wants it in.
