How many times do you transplant?

hey everybody, just wanted to see what everybody out there does in regards to transplanting. i usually transplant twice, but im wondering if anyone out there transplants three time? is that bad? im wondering if transplanting from my seedling containers, then to a veg container, and then a week or two before flower transplant into a bigger pot for flowerin. or should i just stick with going from the small seedling container to the full size flowering container? just wondering because this is the first time i will be able to grow in large containers, as i have always been in a closet and have finally made the step up to a medium sized room. thanks a lot for any input

imo it's better to start in a small container and move up, that way the soil never stays soaked for too long. i've gone from clone cups to 1 gallon to 3 gallon containers and each time i transplant my plants seem even happier.

every transplant causes shock, latest research says to put into largest pot from beginning. Unless it is a space problem you don't want to transplant.

EXACTLY!!

so being a "go with the flow" kind of person,...I try and TAKE ADVANTAGE of the transplant shock

my next run is blue dreams, and I know that thing will stretch like elasti-girl,....so I will go from clone, to 1gal pots for about 1 or 2 weeks, then transplant into 5 gallon buckets, and flip the next day.

the transplant shock and the initial stretch after light flip basically cancel each other, and all I have to deal with is the mid flower stretch.

I like to transplant 2 or 3 times, as they get rootbound pretty quick, and when I DIDN'T transplant (before I knew better), I wouldn't yield as much as when I gave the girls more root room for flowering.

It depends if the plants are from seed or clone. If they are from seed I go from beer cup to 5.5" x 5.5" square pot to 18 Liters. If they are from clone I go from 5.5" x 5.5" square pot to 18 Liters.

I start seeds in 4" square pots, sex in 1 gallon nursery pots, and then transplant the females into 3 or 5 gallon nursery pots. Works like a charm and doesn't seem to be too stressful.

I go from 2 liter to 1 gallon. Grown from seed.

Thanks for the shocking comments. I can see my plants were shocked. The should have fully formed buds by now.

I transplant twice. Beer cup, 1 gal, 3 gal. Starting a seedling in a 3 gal pot seems dumb in my opinion. The soil will never have time to dry out. Not to mention the waste of space and light. Ive never experienced my plants getting stressed from a transplant, in fact its usually the opposite. They grow fast and vigorously right after a transplant.

why do something 2x tho. I like going from cutting to 3gallons. less labour as well.
I do this because of space problems in my veg rooms. I would need a lot more light and I don't veg in my flower rooms. If I don't get 5.5 - 6 crops a year per flower room, it's just not worth it to me for the risk.

usually 2x

start in a very small cup for germinating seedlings/or rooting clones

after 2 weeks,I change it to 1L pots (still small ones)

and after another 2 weeks to the final pots 5,5L

seeds: solo cup, 5'' pot, 3 gallon pot

clones: 5'' pot, 3 gallon pot :dance013:

Some SOG growers will veg 64-80 clones in 6'' pots under 1k and then transplant to 3 gallon pots for flower under 4k...I've never done it that way but it seems to work well.

I don't think there is a single SOG grower out there that uses 3 gallon pots! Not really a SOG then is it?

transplant as few times as possible, saves so much work. so 0 transplants for me. from clone to pot...done.

hmm.... i currently have my plants in like 4" square pots, almost at three weeks(from seed). i think im gonna transplant into like 1.5 gallon pots so i can fit them all under one light for the rest of veg for the 2-3 weeks, then im gonna pop them in 4.5 gallo square pots so i can throw ten under each light. let me know what you guys think about that, and also, thank you all for replying
