how many plants can u grow (max) using

Your question is to variable. I mean you could run sog and 100's of plants,or buckets and have 10-20 plants. First decide what method you plan to grow and come back with some more info on your plans. There isnt a proper answer to whats the max plants that you can run.
Your 1k will properly illuminate a 4x4 area, Each of your 400 watters will illuminate a 2x2 area. Depending on your container size and method of growing its hard to say. To do max plants as in possible I would say you would have to run tables, And pack em tight with clones and flip em immediatly, Otherwise it really depends on the plant size and pot size on how many you can get in there.

You could do better in a room that size with 4K or better,you really want 50 watts a sq ft to flower with.You could partition it off.Once you achieve 50w a sq ft you can flower different sized plants in different containers to see what suits you.You want 50w sq ft or you cant fill the room another words with any real success.

5 gallon grow bags(soil)... plants@ 3feet high
i dont know anything anout electricity so i am somewhat limited to what i got. dont know how to set up a dedicated circut

Sir how many grows have you really done ???? if this is your 1st or 2nd i would suggest maybe 1 400w and learn otherwise your wasting your money time. because if you hook up 3 x 400w 1 x 1k on the same circut your gonna have problems 1 being blowing circut breakers when lights come on. 2 if your doing this in a older home theres a good chance theres aluminum wire in the house esp if theres fuses and not circut breakers FIRE Danger. like Blaze suggested Research read larger grow threads and decide what method of growing right now i have a C25 style cab running it holds a 400w hps and 13 plants in 1 gal bags under it the space in closet next to cab is approx 2x2 i have another 400w there and 13 more 1 gal bags and 1 half 2 liter soda bottle all 27 plants in flower currently. trust me tis a tad crowded in both spaces lol, i started with 1 400w hps now i have 2 1 was loaned to me later i'll have 2 x 600w hps and retire the 400w i own. i started small and worked my way up,

1 of the 1st things a indoor grower learns is dont exceed 80% of the circuts limitations to stay safe. on your ballasts it will say how many amps the unit draws maybe 2 messurments 1 for light fireup and 1 for when lights at operating temps. when the lights 1st come on they draw alot more amps then after thier warmed up and operating 15-20 min's . fans also have a amp messurement not much .5- maybe 2amps. so add up the amps from everything you wish this room to run. if the room is split into 2 circuts maybe you could pull it off maybe. i would start fliping circut breakers off 1 at a time to see which breaker controls what erea and mark the breaker for your referance. reason why i say this another member here Sirsmokesalot ran 1.4k in his closet on the bathroom circut the other bathroom's where all on same circut he had problems tripn breakers if his roomies where usen thier bathrooms at same time. BAM triped the breaker again be safe grow safe

no not my first indoor grow, but it will be my first one of over 15 plants...i grow 15 at a time ,,,5 plants per 400...but i am a commercial outdoor grower and other then 15 plants, i mainly use indoors for mothering and cloning for my outdoor operations
i just built a new house and made a room just for growing indoors,, i have 2 seperate 15 amp circuts running into the same room..the 2 outlets on one side have a dedicated 15 amp circut and the same for the other side,,
i am NOT buying anymore lights till next yr so this yr i will go with what i have and try to maximize what i can get from it..i have 3-400s and a 1000 ..a friend also offered to lend me his 6 foot light rails, but dont want em,,there noisy

I will finish around 40 - 50 plants in 3 gallon pots in an 8 x 11. I usually grow around 3 ft tall Indica, so different strains can reduced the quantity.
That setup is a pain in the ass though because the more I cram in there, the harder it is to care for them. But when your burning 2000 watts in the room you have to cram them in there to make it worth it.
