I saw this over on Twitter.

"They have more than 4,500 genotypes in their cannabis genetics library."

Aurora Coast home to one of the world’s largest genetic libraries for cannabis

I don't bring it up to drag them or corporate-what-have-you.

It really did get me curious- who here at IC has more than 4000 varieties?

Whip 'em out. No hard numbers because that can get people in trouble. But if you've got a library in the thousands of individual cultivars, give us a nod.
I feel like I could name 2 or 3 breeders and old heads here who are in that range. I know I'm not up there in the thousands but I've got a respectable collection of unique shit.

Bsgospel....do you have any idea of the genetics they hold, or maybe they've put up a listing.....Anyone can amass a huge genetic vault in todays age....just go and buy every variety from a few different seedbanks....I think attitude hold just as many at one time....but the thing is how many of those genetics are the same thing...or unique to one another....I would be interested in seeing what these guys actually hold and if their genetics can actually bring something new to the table like they say.....or are they part of the same corporate machine who think cannabis users are dumb and will continue pulling the wool over people's eyes like they've always done.

I'd be super curious as to what they have, too. Unique or no?

I really do bring it up just to ask IC members (who don't mind sharing) how big their collections are.
Again, no hard numbers necessary. Just got me curious.

Most polly hybrids would produce 100s if not 1000s of genotypes all big canna is running is dutched genetics.

Then you have the industrial hemp or rudaralis crosses to the mix.

There weed at best is okay nothing special.

I just got started and already have 2 cigar boxes full of seed packs. I want some more of Dubi and some of OJD's stuff, so I need to find another box. The good seeds are in a "Dutch Masters" box. A lot are freebies though.

It seems that once a seed vault gets above a certain size it becomes more of a collection, along the lines of a stamp or sports card hobby. I say this because unless you are a very active trader and/or grower on a significant scale, once you have thousands of strains/crosses there is almost no way you are working through them in a way that ensures they remain viable over the long term.

Personally, I have a few score of varieties, with a dozen or so that I've never grown. I feel guilty and wasteful when I realize how long it will take me to get to all of them in my little personal garden.

Alives i got 8 keepers, i don't let myself accumulate many strains, in seed I got about 40. I only buy new ones after thinking about it a lot. But ... I make F2 and crosses of my favorite plants, of these I dont know the amount, I would have to weigh them. :trampoline:
