how many gallons are in a cubic foot

Im planning on upgrading to this soil mix, when added together it equals 1 cu foot. for my amendments however they go by the gallon. anyone know the ratio off the top of their head?

The reverse can also be useful:

231 cubic inches per gallon.

You can measure a square potting container (LxWxH" divided by 231) and figure out how much dirt it will hold.

I also used Google for that one. ;)

If it's a tapered pot, measure the middle for an average width.

If it's a round pot, dust off that ninth-grade geometry ((pi x radius squared x height)/231)

FYI: Square pots hold 27% more dirt than round pots in the same floor space.

Yes, I've actually calculated this before. But hey, I like math.

thanks seque, never knew that, but now that you mention it a square has those extra edges a circle doesnt.
