How many Females should I expect?

Whats up all. Still here going strong on my first grow thanks to all of you and some great advise. Anyway down to business.....as some of you may know i have about 15 seedlings from bag seed from a batch of Ny Diesel and haze. what i was wondering was how many of the plants i sowed should i expect are actually gonna be female? also what should i do to promote female growth and males from developing?
Are there percentages?

you don't say how yr growing but Stress of any sort (light fluctuation, nute burn, incorrect pH, drought) will increase the amount of sex-altereds (hermies) in the batch.

otherwise I think it's reasonable to work on 50% females and 50% males/hermies ... which seems to be how Nature arranges most species.

I have my plants in a grow closet, there's 11 of them in 5"x5"x5" peat pots under 3 150 watt eq. which are a bluish white color so I guess there about 5000k. They are about 3 inches from the light and are about 4 inches tall or so. They are just getting their third pair of leaves and look nice and green and healthy. They get 18/6 routinely and the fan blows on them for the 18 hrs and off at night. What do you think?

I'm doing it manually. 6am to 12am (18) and 12am to 6m (6). Fan off for nighttime.

You should invest in a timer; during flowering, if you mess up the light cycle, there's a good chance some or all of your females will hermie!

Just got your comment on my lady...thanks She's fattening up and frosting up and stretching a little too. She smells like chocolate and coffee and something else I can't quite identify. I hope she's at least 12" tall by the time she's done!

Ok will a regular on off light timer do the trick?

Yeah she's impressive and it 's amazing the way she's flowering at 7 inches.......picture her at 27 inches......LOL. you 'll have to put up a Godiva sign......lmao.

But really fine work. what kind of lights do you use and how close do you keep them?
Also how often do you water? Do you keep the soil kinda moist or do you water let the soil completely dry to the touch then water again or do you do it on a day to day cycle?

From what i have grown out , seeds found in outdoor grown and UK import are usually M/F in normal ratio.

Those found in indoor grown are usually female S1,s from a clone that hermied in cash crops.

You could have all girls but watch for intersex in flower .

Yup, you can pick one up at Home Depot or Lowes, then connect a power strip to it so your lights can plug into it. I recommend spending a little extra for a digital one.

I have a carbon scrubber, so it keeps the smell down pretty well, but I have another two females just starting to flower and two more that haven't shown sex yet, and another seed that may raise its head today or tomorrow.

One of the females is already huge for its age (10" wide at around three weeks old). I'm hoping she isn't trying to be a five footer. I have the height for her, but I'd have to raise the light way up!

I use CFLs, plant specific LEDs and metal halide (250W). I don't run the halide unless I'm home, so it's 92W of real LED, 18w of UVB and 54W of LED. I don't usually run them all together because the CFLs get too hot under the halide.

I water when they need it; I lift the pots and if they feel lightish, it's time. Right now that girl needs watering every five or six days, but that may go down to two to three days depending on how big she gets. The lower buds are starting to grow outward and upward now that I removed the fan leaves that were shading them.

How many watts are your CFL's? How often would you suggest watering 4" seedlings? Same as the other when they feel light? It's been about 2 weeks and a few days and my seedlings are just getting there third pair of leaves.....what am I doing wrong? Gonna post you some pics next.

There from a batch of NY Diesel and a batch of haze...I saved them up. So yeah bag seed but from good bud.

They look fine...now that they're getting constant light they should stop stretching.

The standard advice on watering is to put your finger 2" down into the soil to see if there is any moisture. Do you have holes in the containers? You're going to need bigger containers if you expect to yield anything. They'll be good in those pots for another couple of weeks.

As for genetics...damn, those are solid. You may have herm issues later, but you got the seeds from straight piff, so if you pull this grow off successfully you're going to have some serious smoke.

My CFLs are 23W each (real watts). I don't think you'll need to water any of those seedlings for a week if they're moist now, but the moment they wilt, water immediately. I don't know if you're going to be able to pull this grow off, but I'm rooting for ya!

Sweet Thanks.... Yeah I got bigger pots I was just waiting until they got a little bigger to repot them. yeah all the containers have holes.

Right now their under 3 26watt CFL's (real wattage)........I'm using Hyponex by scotts for indoor container plants. Says its good for seed starting and feeds up to 4 months. Don't know if its BS though so I got some MG plant food liquid. Right now their in 5"x5"x5" peat pots and the Chinese containers. but I bought bigger plastic pots for them... I think there 6" or 7" should I get bigger ones? If so I'll get em today.

6-7" is ok for small plants, but the bigger the better as long as you have room for 'em. Are you planning on flowering in the same cabinet?

3 x 26W is ok for now, but the more light the better. If you can get some 2700K bulbs to add to the mix it will help greatly.

Have you started feeding with the Hyponex/MG? They don't need anything for now, and I would advise against feeding them this early. I also grow organically. Since you have access to all kinds of good stuff at Home Depot/nurseries there's really no need to use chems. Pick up some worm castings if you can. Otherwise the MG is better than the Hyponex. Is the Hyponex little balls? If so, don't use it.
