How many days under flower?

I am going to be vegging my seedlings to the perfect high for my low profile SoG before switching them to 12/12.

How many days under flower before I should be able to gender them with my magnifying glass or 60-100x microscope? I am hoping to start seeds to replace the males ASAP.

no need for a scope to sex plants. They'll show their sex within a week to ten days. Males usually show first.

Hi carrotsyo... plants show sex from 1 week to 3 weeks...depending on genes etc...and luck!!look at the main inter-nodes...lots of pics & good inputs about that...there's even a "sticky" thread here in the new growers section...use the search function...BUT: for a real sog growing style you should use clones, not seedlings...there are successful sog from seeds, but they are under 12/12 from the beginning, no veg time...good luck anyway...

Thanks for the input. Yes I have read many threads/books, searched, and read that sticky 3-4 times. I had trouble finding timelines.

Of course after I post this someone posts a timeline w/ great detail...

Your timeline is totally dependent on the strain. I have some strains that show 'feathers' (indicating female) in a few day and other that show in 10 days. It hardly ever takes over 7 to 10 days. You'll have to learn that by watching the plants and counting the days.. from then on, you'll know.

You might try a brown bag over one branch for a few days for early peek on sex....

I would grow your plants to at least 6 weeks veg, identify sex by preflowers, clone and flower. Rush things if you want but the extra time you put in would be greatly rewarded.

I am not really doing "sog" from seedlings, but I AM growing the seedlings I have to maturity in a small cabinet. I AM growing several plants in a small area. I AM expecting not to get great yields from the first batch, but I want to practice the ebb/flow watering, managing several small plants, curing, etc, etc, etc. This is my first grow in my custom cab.

I have 2 more strains, 1 of which is the strain I really want to grow. One of those seedlings will be grown out as a mommy. The second batch will start with fewer plants, vegged for longer, with some minor LST. This is so I can flower a clone from each for gender, then select the strongest female to maintain as a bonsai mom and put other females to flower.

This should give me a gap in production, but I am a non-smoker. I am only growing because I have been diagnosed with a disease that I hope MJ to help. I may try vaporizing, but I primarily hope to make low-strength pills as outlined in a thread here.
