How long vegetative growth from seed?

Hello, I am wondering how long does it take from seed to reach flowering? Is it kinda like with clones that I just leave it 18/24 for a week and than turn to 12/12? Or how do I find out when is it ready to be switched to flowering? Does it depend on the strain I´ll be growing? Thx for any help :)

You get the best results (from seed) when you allow the plant to fully mature before flowering. That is to say, you let it grow until the nodes begin alternating. At this point they have usually shown sex and are ready to flower.

Some goes for clones. Once the mother has matured, rooted clones taken from a mature mother are ready to flower. You can flip them right away, or veg them as big as you care to.

theres no right answer to your question there is to many variables like what light your using what grow method growing conditions etc. soil grows will develop slower then say a hydro grow.

the best advice i can give you is to take your time and get to know your system of growing. after one or two grows you will be able to answer the question yourself

I´ll be growing Sensi´s Big Bud under LED lights in soil.

Well after this first grow I´ll be growing from clones which makes it a lot easier and quicker cos I can go almost straight to flowering...

Is it really necessary to wait for my plants to show their sex even though I´ll be growing from feminized seeds? Could I go into flowering right when they develop some roots like with clones?

sounds like you're intent on going straight to flower so i'd just go 12/12 from seed.look for the thread titled 12/12 from seed and you'll find plenty of info.

Each strain is different but the longer you veg the bigger the plants will be ,hence the bigger flowering buds. Personally I like to veg for 3 months and I get pretty big plants. I have one now that is only 6 weeks and it's already 5' high. so it really does depend on the strain. Stay frosty headband 707:biggrin:

Seed grows are much slower than clone. Just like others stated, for best results wait till you see preflowers and then flower. The plant will produce much better this way. Give your seed 4-6 weeks to show preflower and then flip to 12/12. Unless its a mostly sativa than takes 12+ weeks in flower. If thats the case then flower from seed.

if you only want a small amount of bud (5-50 grams depending on strain ) flower it right away if your looking for 1-32 ozs then veg it until the branches at the nodes are staggered which in most cases is around the 7th -10 sets of leaves in the strains I grow . If I was growing sensi b bud I would grow it to 14 inches tall and then switch to 12/12 ( which would take around 4-6 weeks from germination ). At which point you can expect a large plant 4+ ft by the time your stretch is over . Big bud plants stretch a lot and need support . Good luck
