How long until I should harvest

Hello,

First grow and after some advice on when to harvest.

I have read and understand that you should harvest when around 70% of your trichs are cloudy for a more heady high and a around 5% amber trichs for a more couch lock high.

I have a 100X loupe coming in the mail but it will be around 2 weeks until it gets here.

Strain: Bagseed
Lights: 600W cooled HPS
Temp: 24-27Cel
Nutes: Lucas forumula (Modfied for soil) Previously Monstergrow
Time since 12/12: 5 weeks (3 and a bit since showing sex)

I understand the taller plant looks unhealthy. This is my first grow and I was/am still learning a lot. They were both defoliated which was probably a mistake as they now both seem to be lacking leaf surface, I know this is how plants convert light to energy. The taller lady also has fairly bad nute burn which has since been corrected (Run off = 6.0) but I fear it now lacks the leaf surface to produce big buds.

I have 2X Triple Cheese and 2X Liberty Haze about 3 weeks of being ready to flower so hoping to get these out as soon as possible, keeping in mind I will need the tent they are flowering in for drying as well.

Any guestimates on yield? I'm guessing around 2.5 ounces dried weight.

Any help is much appreciated, Hope to stick around and maybe start a grow journal.

Peace :)

hard to say on yield not knowing the density etc...but they dont look quite done to me.
and dont forget u lose about 75 % of weight during the drying process.

When did you defoliate? The plant looks more on the sativa side so I would guess you have at least 3-4 more weeks. Wait for the loupe, you're on the right track. I found for sativa doms, you cant just rely on trichome color or at least wait on amber trichs. Hard to say on the weight so early. Depends on how well they stack.

Also, interested in how well the 100x loupe works. I've never seen that kind of magnification on a loupe.

Here's what works for me, bud. I don't even pull out my loupe until the pistils have receded fully into the bud. Like so:

Thanks all

Had my fair share of stuff ups but have learnt heaps

I Defoliated around day 21 of flower, Yeah it's your spot on mate, where It's bagseed from and outdoor grow and where I'm from nearly all outdoor grows are sativa's due to the climate.

Here is the 100X Loupe I bought it was only $10.00 so not sure how well it's going to work

& Thanks for the photo to go off that makes it a bit easier

Basically wait until all the pistils (hairs) have turned from white to amber. Then you can start checking trichs. When trichs are no longer clear and all cloudy, then you can flush and cut.

There's an easy way to tell... They just look done lol like food in the oven they will look finished the pistils will die and it will swell up and look like its done growing. No scope no nothing they won't look like growing fresh plants they will look ready to go. Yours my friend aren't even close maybe 3 4 weeks

That pic smokinerb gave is a good representation see the first still looks healthy and growing that means not done yours look like that lol

You have a few more weeks left.. you will lose a ton of weight if you clip early which as a few guys have stated is a "newb" mistake.. you probably have about 3 to 4 weeks left.. a ton of the breeders say 8 weeks for certain strains but that is with absolutly perfect conditions. a good rule of thumb is to add at least 1 or 2 weeks to a breeders (online) estimate on how many weeks to flower.

You should get your mag in the mail before it is time to clip.. be patient.. its worth the extra weight and trike development!

I just think of it as "Does this look like a plant at the end of fall?"

Yellow leaves starting to come off/sugar leaves getting yellow/brown around the edges, pistils dark, etc. I have this mini lightup microscope that does 100x, works well to double check but just just a visual is usually good for me.

And yeah guessing 4+ weeks depending on the sativa-y-ness of the bagseed.
