people talk about cooking the butter/oil for 30 min minimum, but wont that cook most of the thc out? especially if it gets too hot.. I thought I remember reading from a few sources that it only takes a couple of minutes for the THC to dilute in the solution of oil/butter.. anymore seems like it might start baking it out.. can anyone confirm? Especially since thc activates at just over 200 degrees.. wouldnt this be dangerous to leave on too long? I thought first few minutse and thc out, after that, and you just extract bad tasting cholophyl.. anyone?

always best to keep to temp low, obviously... a crock pot or something like it on the lowest setting i believe would be optimal.

butter and cooking oil, however, are not highly refined solvents like butane or isopropyl alcohol. quick washing won't work with butter and oil. it needs a lot more time to break down the resin glands...

some of the best ganja food i've ever eaten was made with butter that was cooked for no less than 4 hours...

it's more a question of keeping the heat low than keeping the cooking time to a minimum....

i'm gonna be making myself some ganja butter tonight too... best of luck...

Using water and butter is the way to go: You can ensure that the temperature does not go above 212F.

Do this and stir for for as long as you want - people will give you answers ranging from 30 mins to 6 hours. I try to do at least 2 and sometimes 4 if I'm feelin good.

Afterwards, strain it all and put the water/butter into a cup. Then put that in the fridge and when it cools that butter will rise to the top forming a hard chunk that you can separate as a hunk of cannabutter.

interesting.. i've always been scared to cook for too long, and have still come out with some serious results from canifood.. I wonder how long it actually breaks down for..

peep my post in this forum on candy.

I just made butterscotch candy w/ cannabutter.

the candy had to reach 300 degrees to work, but the cannabutter was made under normal circumstances.

...the shit is potent as hell ...thats all i know...so I dont know where the high temps are gonna be a problem.

Just remember, any temps above 390F will result in destruction of your THC by vaporization, and it only takes about 200F to decarboxylate marijuana to set it free in order to allow it to bind to fat moleculres.

i been saving dottle from my aromazap
so i tried cooking that in some vegetable oil.
maybe i had it too hot but that shit turned black and smelled real bad.
i had to wash the place down with vinegar and i still can't rid of the smell.
needless to say i tossed it.
i don't know if i can make this shit work - with dottle anyway.
i'll try again maybe in a double boiler?
somebody here used it successfully - gotta find it...

best regards
