Quick question...
How long does it take for a plant in promix to start showing signs of nute burn.

I used flora Nova grow half strength yesterday for the first time and i think it might have been a little too hot for them.

Flora Nova Grow is Extremely concentrated 7-4-10. You could see burn overnight. Have a good look throughout the plant. Fish 5-1-1 Veg with PBP bloom & PK-13-14 flower. Quite often you'll only see a leaf or two with a burn (not always a bad thing). If it's not severe.

Soiless would be shown in overnight or a day or 2 later. It's a little quicker than soil growing and shows results quicker.

Half strength as in how much? How much nutrients to water ratio?

You always go by the size of your plant, never by the directions except for cannabis specific nutrients.

If the plant has smaller leaves and not many, you don't need to feed it much.
How big is your plant?

FloraNova Grow 3.5ml per gallon.
Floralicious plus .5ml per gallon

The plant is about 14" and just itching to go into flower.

It's been 24 hours and I've just noticed some brown areas appearing on some of the top leaves.

It could also be heat stress. It was about 8" from the 400hps, but I have a piece of glass between them (homemade cooltube).
I just raised the lamp to 12" above canopy.
Canopy temp was about 83.
Now it's 80.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it doesn't get worse.

Thanks.

Ya. nuteburn does not happen or start at the top, it can happen on tops when the rest of the plant has been affected, normally it starts lower and goes up the plant as it progresses.

It may be heat stress, 8 in away from a small plant will get heat stress even if you have a cool tube, this is due to lumens being close.
