How Long Can One Transport a Fresh Harvest?

So whenever harvest rolls around, I might be using a drying location that is roughly an hour and a half (90 min) from the grow site.

I'll be transporting the harvested buds in 5 gallon buckets with gamma lids for an airtight seal.

For a conservative estimate, we'll say that the fresh buds will be sealed in an airtight bucket for 2 and a half hours total.

My concern is: is two and a half hours too long to be sealed in an airtight container? Will the freshly harvested buds develop mold?

Ive had to do the same thing. One year I had to drive the harvest an hour away and just as I pulled in the drive way I got a call about a family emergency. I didn't even have time to unload, left the truck filled with the sealed rubber maids of plants and jumped in my brothers car to get to the hospital. When I came back 12 hours later the buds were still not at all moulded but I'm very happy I caught it when I did because their was so much moisutre in those buckets their was a standing water in the bottom of them loll. So long story short...your fine :)

the buds will naturally heat up during that time and when dried/cured will be a darker color reducing their market value in many markets.

might pack with dry ice brought on site imo.

if you have any old cheech and chong albums with the big papers, line the inside of the buckets with them

Wow, that's an awesome idea. Won't harm the buds at all? Cheap?

I didn't realize an hour and a half in a bucket could do that.

when you harvest and pack a big garbage bag by the time you get home from a guerilla grow the interior of the bag is hot as hell. if you tightly pack the buds the worse it gets. the hotter the ambient temps are, the worse it gets.

you can end up with chocolate looking bud product a day or two later.

Where do you get dry ice? Online I presume?

^ sure. the concept is you gotta be able to discretely truck in "cooling material" for a guerilla grow. if it's not a problem then "no problem". just truck in something in an ice chest that will get the job done.

Do you think that, using an ice pack in each bucket will keep the temps cool enough for an hour and a half to two hours? I'm trying to keep damage to the buds minimal.
