Personal experience, most take up to 82 degrees before they start to show stress. Up until 85 that stress is minimal, after that it's a crapshoot. Some will be 'ok', others will really suffer. The safety net is 70-75.

I have heard that AFs don't like too much heat. The older they are the more heat they can tolerate I have some outside right now and its been in the ninties all week and so far they seem to be handling it okay.

I'm reading this and can't believe. do you really guys say that the best temperature is about 24C? (75f) and 30C (85F) is critical temperature? I really don't think like that.

I had fairly constant temps close to 90F in my micro grow of Diesel Ryders. The plants seemed to show no signs of stress from the heat although the smell was out of this world and I think my high temps increased the effect of the terpenes the plant produces.

I would think at some threshold (100-105F, who knows?) the heat is very detrimental but I would think warmer is better than cooler (ample ventilation allows for higher temps) for a good growth rate. Cool temperatures slow down growth. My guess on the "sweet spot" would be 78-82F.

I can't speak for anyone else but my ideal is 75 and critical is 90 or more.

Shrug..

I hear AN's Rhino Skin (potassium silicate) can help with high temps. It's supposed to help strengthen the stem walls and allow it to handle pests, heat and heavy buds much better. I've never used it but I've seen a lot of heat issues and would like ot know it it actually worked. I've heard of a comparable and cheaper product (non-AN) I just can't remember it's name.

Co2 can help with heat stress also.

co2 pucks.. Badass!?!?!
http://www.4hydroponics.com/grow_room/co2excellofizz.asp

1 puck for $3.75 sounds expensive but for the closet growers you can cut 1 puck into multiple pieces and use it for several days. i.e. for a 16 sq ft grow area you can use a single puck for 18 days worth of every other day co2 treatments.

Sorry to get off subject. I hope this helps.

i lol'd

but seriously, My AF White Russian is constantly faced with temps of 78F- 85F and its not uncommon to see a spike to 90F in hot weather. (the room my grow box is in has about the same temp/humidity as outdoors, due to windows always open). I don't think I would be too comfortable with temps getting any higher than they do now...

My girls have sat outdoor at temps of 50 degrees plus...
and down to air frost..
I had to buy a Jam thermometer to temp check them because standard thermometers only go up to 50.

40 degrees is pretty standard for them..
AF's have hearts like Lions..

But I wouldn't recommend it for a cupboard grow...unless you have excellent air circulation.

Stick your hand in the cupboard at their head level..
and if it feels too hot on your hand..it will probably stress the girls..

:1help: Many Thanks Everyone.

Lowdr and Mossy .. you were both speaking in Celsius not Fahrenheit right?

It feels fine to my hand in the cabinet. It has been running a few degrees higher with the 150wHPS than the fluorescents had been but I really love not banging my head on the light fixture every time I open the cabinet. I had noticed the new temp/humidity is registering higher temps than another temp gauge I put in there so I stuck a couple more in …… Would you believe of the four I now have in there only two show the same temps .. So that’s the one I will go with. The temp/humidity gauge is 10 degrees higher. Is there a way to adjust or reset those little cheap ones?

Temps are hovering between 78 degree Fahrenheit and mid 80’s :woohoo:

I plan on setting up a cool tube for it then all will be really good. Well one more thing I need done for sure… I need to get the hubby to put a 4” exhaust hole in the corner of my closet to the underside of the house. As for everything else I have done it myself. The wiring job to make my security light into a remote ballast was a piece of cake thanks to Sugabear II. :respect:

Of the 5 Short Stuff #1 I started I now have 3 females left. Two showed as males a couple days ago. I will post pics a bit later today

Yeah..sorry...
I average 100-120 degrees Fahrenheit full season.

I would think they will be well happy with that.

Big thumbs up to Sugabear II..

Speed and Safety with them..

I will post pics a bit later today

Brilliant..have a good weekend...:joint:

Wow! That means a lot coming from you Mossy :woohoo: Thank you :respect:

And I still can't believe it. I have transplanted those little girls 3 different times in the first 3 weeks of their short life. And thought I was making many mistakes so that makes me feel much better.

I have fem seeds of Easy Ryder from JD. White Russian from Lowlife & Blue Himalaya from Short Stuff. These little girls were my freebie to learn on batch

That's the way to do it..have a little play with them and you feel a lot more confident with the next ones..

It took THEM a bit of time to Train ME up too..:whip:
(I killed my first batch...:biglaugh:)

Although..I have to say..you are going to get some really nice girls from your Play-time anyway.

I harvested the largest of the 2 females I ended up with of the Short Stuff #1 yesterday. The runt of the litter is a good week behind this first one.

I have also harvested some popcorns buds from the Bag Girls in last few days. :joint:

I am finding seeds thru out both the AF and Bag Seed girls. I took the males out of both as soon as I recognized them. I am not sure but I suspect one of these Bag Seed girls is a hermie. If she is she hides it well. :noway:

I didn't take pictures .. I need a better camera for decent pictures.

Popcorn buds dried with a low and slow toaster oven dry are excellent! Smooth and good taste with very nice well balanced high. :woohoo:

The Short Stuff has a lemony smell. I can't wait to give it a smoke try.
The BS is from the smell of it of the skunk family and I wish I knew for sure what it was.

Any ideas as to how I got so many seeds thru this batch? :1help:
