How F'd Am I

Ok, so here goes...

I got my grow room in a spare bedroom in our house. It is paralell to our bathroom. The water main behind the sink sprung a leak last night and partially flooded the grow rooms carpet (I am in a tent so I didnt pull up the carpet)

The plumber is coming over today to hopefully repair the line. They may have to break down the wall that seperates the two rooms as the sheetrock is smelling quite wet.

If I step on the carpet near the wall where the leak sprung, I leave wet footprints so it is not terrible. for now I opened the windows to the room and am venting her out.

I am on week 6 of flower, I just bombed with dr doom twice in 3 days. I know it takes a month to get out of the plants so I am counting on the extra 4 weeks of flower to help with that.

FYI I am a legal medical grower, however I do not have my landlord's permission nor am I under lease, I am month to month (ARGH!)

so here are my options as I see them:

  1. Exlpain to Landlord I am growing indoors, hope he doesn't care
  2. Move the plants outside and hope for no hermies
  3. Pray?

If the carpet is wet I am guessing they are gonna have to pull it up which means everything in that room has to go outside.

If so so do the girls.

It's gonna be a real bitch moving them as I am in a non modular scrog :(

Their current light cycle is from 8pm to 8am. How bad would it be to throw them outside tonight when it would be their light cycle and let them get on the sun's cycle?

Thanks,

TS

OK Update, I just checked and thank GOD that only a small patch of carpet is wet in the room. I put towells over it for now and put preassure on them to start soaking up the water.

god I hope I don't have to move the room.

well, if it makes you feel any better, most residential leases protect the landlord, not the tenant. Usually a landlord can break the lease with no repercussion.

Maybe move everything into the master bedroom for one night, just put them under floros just to keep them on schedule. No need to set up the HPS if its just one night. But would plumbing and drywall happen the same day?

The more i think about it, move your tent to your bedroom.

if you broke a main and your carpet is a swamp.... theres gonna be a LOT of work needed.

my guess is you wont be able to reasonably grow at all, either your landlord is gonna be cool with the MMJ aspect and you can keep your tent (at the expense of security and them knowing along with anyone else they might mention it to), or they wont and you need to tear down.

Perhaps I am using the wrong terminology. The water pipe leading to the toilet and sink is the the one that was leaking. I don't think it busted but it was definately leaking. It sounded like water boiling almost... so I suspect it was leaking very slowly.

my landlord did say that they might have to tear it up.

Either way it looks like ima have to throw it outdoors. No point in moving it to my bedroom, it gets way too hot in there.

OK another update... The sound seemed to be coming directly behind my mirror so I decided to do a bit more looking now before they decide to have to tear the house apart.

I took out the mirror/cabinet module (which was pretty easy) and there are two pipes right behind it. Also some wet drywall is right behind it :(

I think I found where she was leaking from so hopefully they just gotta replace the connectors or whatever.

HAHA thanks for the advice guys. The plumbers stopped by and had to cut a hole in the wall behind the pipes. They mentioned the smell and said they did it too (imagine they smelled me burning a j last night)

They had to go in the grow room but they didn't even look at the tent.

Get those plants outside dude. That is your only option as I see it. They WILL be going in your grow room to check for flooding/damage. My bet is your landlord will send you packing if he finds you are growing.

Looks like you lucked out bud. Do those horse shoes still klink when you walk?

Maybe get yourself a small dehumidifier to suck out excess water and humidity from your place....prevent mold. Bleach does a good job killing mold spores as well, just open all your windows so the fumes don't take you.

Happy endings are always good.

I've had to help a fellow gardener out in a very similar circumstance, basically 24 hours notice was given that the cable guy had to run new cable into, through and out of his basement, 31 plants had to be moved, 2 - 1000w lights, the equipment and plants had to be moved during their light period which was Midnight to Noon, we rented a Uhaul for $110 for 2 days and bought 20 of those little LED tap lights for closets, each 1 took 4 AA batteries, so we bought 4 - 24 packs of rayovac batteries, and used thumb tacks to attach the tap lights to the wooden rails inside. Bought and used ona gel to hide the reek. It worked out. We were freaking out and we knew it went well because of luck and not a carefully executed plan. Sheer Luck.
Needless to say, now I try to keep a Plan B and C.
Room was down from for a total of 27 hours, fate smiled on us, this was great lakes area on March 30th, it just happened to be 70 degrees out that day.
I hope everything goes your way, minimal stress on them and you.

I'm not telling you what to do, but HIPPA Laws are there to protect you. I wouldn't discuss the medicine that you use with him, your medical affair are private, and you do not have to disclose any medical condition or treatment thereof with them. People are not always understanding, after being misinformed about cannabis their whole life.

WARNING: You might get blackmailed, or your grow ripped "anonymously". It is common place for renters to think they deserve their share, and now you get taxed when it's time to re-sign your month to month or signed lease $600/month rent will be $1050/month. You could also be forced to move out or live in fear of constantly being in jeopardy. Jealousy, greed and fear their weapons, it's not in your best interest to discuss this with them, you're already up against a wall, don't open up or he could deliver a death blow.

THESE SCENARIOS HAPPEN EVERYDAY !!!

Keep your head up and eyes open, be safe and take care. I'm pulling for you. h_s_s

I would save some money and buy my own house as leasing or renting a house or an apartment spells Disaster in the worst way and every day you live worrying your landlord might call and tell you he is selling the property or that some emergency such as the 2 mentioned above happened.

I wouldn't want to always have to worry about moving my grow and fear being evicted and busted all rolled up into one. Good Luck to You and for what it's worth Invest in a steam cleaner or wet vac

Your concern now should be the guys that were in your house doin repairs......people can be really stupid as we all know.

Good to hear things went well for you as far as the landlord.

Good point in keeping a backup plan.

Grow some balls and just do it.

Damn, that Uhaul-trick is pretty slick. :smokey:
A back-up plan is always good.
I have my growing-chamber on wheels and some of it is removable so I can move it around in my flat pretty quickly. Plus I have a little storeroom with no cables, pipes or anything else in it. So the landlord or plumbers won't ever enter that room. Hopefully.;)
