how far should should i keep my 1000w mh light?

they are seedling barely week 1. on day 4 I think. two are day 10. it's 1000w mh light and I got ac in their so the closest is what am looking for. thanks in advance everyone

Put the bulb maybe 3 or 4 feet above the plant and each day lower it a little.

The main thing is to make sure the air just above the tops of the plants isn't too warm for your hand.

If it is to warm. Then raise the light and/or increase ventilation. :tiphat:

I agree babies need to be three ft or so above the lamp,keep in mind though it's just the heat not the light that will affect them adversely,a lazer thermometer to gauge the actual temp at the canopy or top of the seedlings or larger plants is a great investment I think.You might consider a two or four lamp 4 ft. flourescent fixture with either cool white or daylight lamps for the first couple weeks after they break ground.You can keep them literally 1/4 inch above the seedlings and move them up accordingly.I got my best results with plants up to 3 or 4 inches in height this way.You get babies with a few dozen leaves and 3 or 4 nodes this way.Then they are totally ready for the 1K experience
