How far does a K-9 smell?

I live three houses from a park. A couple LEO types were training K-9's over at the park. That makes me nervious even if I have a MMJ card. The wind was in the wrong direction thank God. Anyone know how far a K-9 can smell meds?

The wind has a lot to do with it but so does intensity of smell. If they have a toy right by them with drugs in it they will probably fuss about with whats close to them, than chase a smell in the wind. I doubt you have enough grass growing that a dog would come find you. If you did then your neighbors would have already complained.

Inside a house and a ways away I don't think is a problem.

I don't know if its true or not but I have heard stories that rippers in the 80's and 90's used to take trained dogs on walks in suspected areas for growing. That they could smell the wind blow over a pot patch and go find it.

But a small indoor grow, no man I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Besides those dogs get distracted so damn easy, if he was trying to leave the park they'd probably just discipline him.

yeah, distracted dogs... have you got any of your own? a female on heat will ATTRACT other dogs of course, which would be counterproductive. but other dogs are a major distraction.

I had some hash cookies in my bag at the airport and a handler came along to the revolving luggage thing with a pretty little beagle. she was about 20 feet away when I GRABBED my bag but she didn't smell a thing.

I'd like to answer this question with respect to time rather than distance. Six months back.

they are training the dog, not working it. that means your biggest worry is fucking up their training by having the scent out of the trainer's control. The are essentially teamed up with you to teach the dog how to ignore ambient cannabis odor.

turn off the carbon filter and flood that park with MJ smell. The dog will progress very slowly!


This is assuming they are really teaching it to detect MJ, and not search and rescue.

sprinkle crushed up leaves and other small weed waste all over the park ,and have fun watching the dog go crazy. dry leaves crush to a powder easilly.

sherrif K9 lives on the street behind me in the house directly across street from house behind me. he walks his dog when he's off duty almost nightly in the neghborhood hasnt smelled me thankyou carbon scrubber

Hey Thanks for the good ideas. I have about half a bag of trimmings from the mother plants so I am going to dry them, crush them up, and they are going to get spread all over the park. Should be funny watching the K-9s play!
