... from our ideal job?

I mean it's completely legal to grow weed in Cali under proposition 64? And next year it will be legal to grow and sell??

How easy is it for a Brit to move to California and start a grow buziness? Can u get a visa as a skilled worker ??

I wish UK would follow...

What makes it an "ideal job" is if you can get 240 a z ($3800 a pound) for Really Good Medicine.

BUT - what I see shaping up is a combination of over-supply.

And, some states over-regulating it, which tends to favor larger enterprises that can afford a full time paperwork worker.

And, some states over-taxing it, which reduces the appeal to the locals. Why pay $40 an 1/8th at a rec. dispensary when you can buy a Z for $100, from a friend ?

Gretzkey the hockey player used the metaphor of "skating to where the puck is going to be".

Making plans for the future, I would look at any plans from the point of view of, what happens in a (sort of) over-supply condition as prices drop below $100 an ounce ?

Just about everyone in the goldrushes of the 1800"s went home broke.

Very very few struck it rich. They came from near and far thinking they were certain to get rich, but the reality soon sunk in.

Cannabis will be the same.

You can only make money growing in a place where it is illegal. Generally speaking.

If the OP can't make money growing it in the UK where because of it's illegality there is not much competition and prices are high, then what chance does he have in the US with all that competition.

Plus growing on a commercial scale in a legal place would just become drudgery, menial physical labour. Any romance of growing cannabis would soon fade, and it would just be like working on a lettuce farm, just repetitive physical work.

Yes, you can come here.

No, you prob need licenses. Then, yes.

Make your price low and grow suburb stuff and people will flock. In other words be an efficient grower that selects the best clones.

Get some of your clones tested for CBD and THC and other flavanoids. And mark your strain packaged with the label of the info.

You don't know until you try.

Comparing weed growing to gold prospecting doesnt make sense. Gold is scarce land and weed seeds are plentyful. I say get over here and marry a usa citizen so you can be one too you already speak english so that will help a lot.

During the gold rush, it was the guy with the general store that got rich.

I suspect more people will move product to illegal states, as has been occurring. More people will get busted for that.

Unless you have several million to invest, you're not going to be very rich.

I don't want to be "rich" of weed buziness

I want it to replace 9-5, enjoy growing, selling, smoking and earning buck

Anyone from UK or anywhere else for that matter, want to join me and start a grow business ?

I'm a good grower, member of original Overgrow, I got a business management degree so I will take care of advertising promotion, will come up with some business plan and sort out accounting.

I would like a partner come to think of it, someone to help me with my garden and a second shop assistant at the store we going to open.

Hahaha lol doing this in sf...
Waaaaay to expensive here to grow efficiently, can barely afford to live. Gonna have to go to the east bay son.

Hope you can afford the rent. Very expensive there. Agree with other posters...realists, not pessimists.

Just have enough money to survive on if the venture doesn't work.
Cannabis states are saturated with "wanna be's".
Too, do you have any connections? It's all about WHO you know, not what you know.
Good luck!

Last I heard Yummybud was looking for a job.

Also to make a full time job out of it, you are going to need a pretty large garden.

You can't live off a one room garden in your apartment.

I think most people who grow and sell, they do it as an aside from their day job to make a bit of extra money on the side.

But you are going to need land with a greenhouse on it or a warehouse.

Big set up costs.

Then you are going to need customers.

Without connections you are going to have to sell cheap, at least initially, to get it sold.

And with what I read on here about the prices over there, the margins are small as it is, and you are going to have to go even lower to sell your stuff as you don't have the connections.

Nice dream, but I think you should stay home.

Someone said electricity and cost of living and such. They're right. I guess they are giving you good advice also.

You need a lot of space for a grow and to be efficient.

Can I get a bank loan if weed buziness becomes legit??

Won't happen anytime soon. That's why cannabis business is CASH ONLY because it's still federally illegal and banks are federally insured (FDIC).

A few snippets to change the current laws legislatively, but very doubtful it will happen anytime soon.

And better to choose an area that just is about to become legal or newly legal/MMJ. California is overly saturated having MMJ since '96 and recently legal now. Unless you go to remote areas of Cali....where access is harder to come by....staying in metropolis will be dreams dashed unless you have a lot of money under your mattress.
