How early can you clone?

I was wondering how early you can cut a new plant to clone and sex it? Can the first top off become a clone? Or can you only take a stem off a mature plant?

u can top clone if u want me personally i only took the best side shoots (rooted in less than 10 days in pure coco 100% success )
but if ur only doin sexing u could take some of the not so great shoots

When I top, I always try to clone with the tops. Why not? It's like potentially throwing away a free plant :D

But as to how early, I've always gone by what the plant tells me. If it has good strong branching, I'll cut it. If it needs a bit more time, then I'll leave it be.

Thing is, cloning is more about sex. I don't clone till I can identify the girls. No need to waste my time cloning boys. So, once again, it comes down to looking to the plant for cues.

Put your cut under a 10/14 photoperiod it'll save days over 12/12 sexing cuts

IMO it is best to wait til the plant tells you what the sex it is, whay waste the time?

Do you have any links or grows that validate this?

I'd be interested in seeing it.

If someone else puts it in writing in a professional context it makes it valid?Try it yourself bro, thats what I did when it was mentioned to me.That was years ago before I realized I could sex a seedplant with a magnifying glass before its first cut would show me sex lol.Another words what crazy horse said.

Yes, The American is on the right way of thinkin, You can also force the plant to show sex, you can change the light cycle or paper bag the branch, once it shows sex type, then take your clones and then change the light cycle back to veg, sometimes this will hermie a plant and sometimes it wont effect it at all, or you can cut the clones and then force those little dudes, either way your gonna stress the plant. I never force the mother only one branch at a time, Thats only my opinion, GoodLuck dude. Chi ne he.

What? Are you talking to me?

I was simply asking a question. I in no way meant to imply this method wasn't valid? In fact, just the opposite. I've been hearing this more and more often, but I've never actually seen a grow thread using the 10/14 lighting, so I was asking if you had a link to one.

I personally look for preflowers, like you said, but the 10/14 thing has been mentioned before, so I wanted to see a grow where someone had used it.

A bit touchy, aren't we? :D
