I think I finally figured out what i'm going to do for lights in my grow cab.

I'm planning on running 4 55w 2700k cl-l lights vertical for my veg. then I'll continue to run those and ad a 150w hps overhead for flowering. Both veg and flower will be in the same cabinet.

That will work! You might want to consider using 6500K lights (or similar) for veg and leave them on when you switch to 12/12 and add the 150, but first things first. Once you get your cab squared away, you can work on different methods and techniques!

From my exp it is way better to start with blue spectrum cfl (6500k) and then add hps for flowering. There are three pluses for that:
1. 6500k gives better results for weg stage
2. putting 150HPS will lower the light spectrum for flo
3. HPS is better to penetrate plants with light which is desirable when your plants are well wegged.

sweet. This is going to be my nice cabinet. I was going to just build one cheap but decided to invest some money in it instead, but since funds are tight, it's going to be a long build. Until then, I'm building an ultra cheap one in a trunk locker to get my feet wet!

MIxing spectrum will give you much better results than using one or the other
