Like the title says. I'm just getting into keeping a few mother plants in a small 1x1x2 cabinet, and I wanna know how you guys manage your mother plants' size. Do you cut back the roots from time to time? What about trimming? How do you guys keep your mother plants small but alive?

Read the link above its a good read, personally i keep even smaller and its just a matter of keeping them cut Back and having a small container size.

Ill post a pic of two mothers a hacked a week ago, and took a good 10+ cuttings each, and they're more or less ready to give up another 5-8 cuttings each in another couple days.

i treat it like my bonsai trees. trim trim trim em up with no till i dont need to cut the roots back. just clone, chop, and replant when needed. then i get myself mulch or i some good stuff for the compost!

These were hacked back a week ago giving a good 20 cuttings, and are pretty much ready to give another 10-15 come the weekend if needed.

Really just small containers and keep them cut back.

Nice! Corky & Roy, I had forgotten about that thread! I must've read it back in '07 when I had my last stint, cuz I vaguely remember those pointers. I guess the main thing I'll need to do is to cut back where the clones would produce whether or not I'm gonna take them. I won't be growing very much at a time, so 100+ clones per year is waaay more than I need.
