How Do I..

.....................keep the branches from breaking off of my larger, and more bushy plants?.... Im gonna get pounded with really heavy rainstorms, from now until harvest..The arms that are covering themselvs with bud will get quite heavy after a rain, an ive already had the rain strip off a fiew beautiful branches on some of my choice plants. :badday:

I have heard a story from a local grower...He said that it was late sept..Large plants with beautiful, frosty nuggs..Everything was rollin along smoothly..He got hit with a massive hail/rain storm..The weight from the rain broke MANY branches off tha main stalks..Then the hail beat the nuggs into the mud.. He said 90% of his crop was lost..He was gonna harvest in 2 weeks!!:yoinks: ...

An, I totaly believe him...

I cant bear to see that carnage..:jawdrop:
I also cant stake up every single limb..

I was thinking about putting 4 bamboo poles around the plant, wraping rope around them kinda like in tha Babbas garden..

What do you guys do about this problem? :chin:

FP,
What a problem to be havin. Congrats on the grow are in order.

I have given it a bit of thought. This is what I can come up w/ . Mind you I'm pretty crisp at the moment. Was thinking that some good ole zip ties might just do the trick. They come in green and in all different sizes to suit your needs.

You could use the main stalk as a support for the larger branches. Using the offshoots on the heavier branches to keep the zip tie from sliding down onto the main stalk. Unless it's so bushy that the main stalk isn't available for support, then ..umm ..well ...I dunno ..lol. GL bro.

Just a thought

Peace

I use twist ties and bamboo stakes. You want to stake each limb if you can, and try and seperate em as well as possible to promote air flow. Mold might be a problem too, so you wanna shake the water off the plant after you get heavy rain.

I feel you.
Ive no experience with bud rot..Im in a high altitude, desert environment..It is still quite hot during the days, even in Sept...an we have low humidity..

My main worry is the little bushes flattening out onto the mud..The stems may not snap..But they are so low to the ground it would be mud/bud..ya know..

An there quite alot of bud sites on those little bushes in tha last picture, for me to stake up.. An thats just one hole..

Should I just go with a miniature version of what JJscorpio suggested?

Hey FastPine,

How you doing ol buddy? I have felt your pain! Back in 97' I had a few trees 7 weeks into flower when Hurricane Opal roared ashore. The best remedy that works at this stage of the game is to tie the plant together. I like to use panty-hose. Its springy, soft, and camoflage. Just tie it to the heaviest stalk and wrap it around the whole plant, capturing all the branches. Tie it off to a single stake. Make sure to keep the stake as far from the plant as possible, wouldn't wanna hurt the roots now that your almost complete! If you need a long "hose" rope just tie a couple together.

Hope this helps,
Seed
