How do I wire up a computer fan for a seedling grow box?

I want to use a 4" computer fan that I have laying around. It has a red wire, a black wire, and a white wire with a 3 speed control on it. The red and black wires have a computer style terminal on the end that I'm assuming needs to be cut off. Is the red positive and black negative? What do I need to have it function safely plugged into a wall socket?

Ok I got two smaller 3" fans running off an old cell phone charger. I am test running them as I type this seems to be running fine. Any idea how safe they are?

Very safe. Never had a problem. Have used many as they are real quiet.
There are lots of posts if you search about wiring etc - it's very easy!

That's what I did for my very first grow ever when I was in high school an used a gutted speaker box to grow in. Took the computer fans and some old cell phone chargers and and wired them together. Worked just great and never had a problem. Used electrical tape to cover up any exposed wiring.

They works perfect Sir ! and yes 2 those about the colours-the white should be if speedregulater.Paralel better than in series,then more than one..Nothing happens if wrong connect-only it would not running anythere-remember-you can do blow over the top of plants-if wishing those OR-turn it around-so heat can be taken away from your bulp.Mabye one fan-can take away heat-other one-blow over the top ? just hang it to your reflector-or what,your using..have used the same ugly Blacknoise 80 mm fan for now about 4 years-under an 400 w..only those and running constantly also then ladye,s sleeping..it have auto restart-good-because-if one or some stems/ leafs-cames into the fan-it normally cuut of-those and starts again-no overheating fan-or one-who dont restart again..not 2 good for UK some can explain much better..but i also needs to act,s clever sometimes : ) they are all so clew-in here around !..
