just got a new place and all the floors are brand new hardwood in the bedrooms. i need to make sure i dont ruin them. usually the rooms are carpeted and i just pull that up, but i dont have that option right now.
my last grow i used tarp on the floors after i pulled up the carpet and i guess there was a small rip because there was alot of mold to clean up.
this time i dont want to take a chance and figured someone has a good solution. thanks

I've often wondered the same thing myself, since I'll be moving soon. What about laying pond liner out? Mind you I have no idea what it costs but I know it's tough and reusable. Maybe double up some black and white poly?

ive tried double layered panda film before, no good. and im sure tarp is much thicker and water has made its way through a small rip in my last grow.
not that there is water constantly on the floor or anything. but sometimes you spill a little or a hose falls out the res. i just want to make sure in case anything does spill.

This may sound funny but, what's wrong with carpeting? Lay down your tarp/pond liner and cover it with a rug. The rug will prevent rips, the tarp will keep the floor dry.

like somone said picos pond liner tutorial and if you wanted to take it a step further you could do carpet below the pond liner or rubber gym matting, that would prevent scratching and absord sound if you were living above someone. its not gonna be cheap but it will save you alot of headaches, ime your gonna flood your run at least once, it happens a fitting doesnt seal right or a hose pops off or some other random ass thing.

if the room is under 12 x12,you can buy a 20mil pond liner at home depot all boxed up for 25.00.or if you want to go heavy duty can order online a 45mil firestone pond liner for 50.00 for 10 x 10(bigger sizes avalible),but shipping is like 50.00.if you plan on staying a while you can line the bottom with 2 x 2 anti-fatige mats(gym mats).ebay has them for 20.00 for 24 sq.feet(i found them at osh hardware for 17.00)the mats are an nice addition, they cut sound, insulate and great to walk on.

i ended up going with pond liner, got it for a great deal of 70 cents a sq ft and the place that sold it was within 10 miles of me. really heavy stuff, but easy to work with. i did my rooms kind of similar to pico's, came out nice looking.
couldn't find the rubber roof in anything over 6' wide, must have called a couple dozen suppliers around me, weird. and ordering it online takes to long, shipping is to much and i needed it now.
the pond liner at home depot and lowes is pvc plastic and not rubber, that stuff breaks down quickly and is not as resilient to tears as the rubber liner. thanks everyone! :woohoo:

for the record home depot has two pond liners. A 20 mil and a 50 mil. I have used both and prefer the 50 Mil. Just installed the 20 mil, hope it holds up. The 50 mil is not PVC coated that I can tell, it seems like rubber
