I had a chance awhile back to rent a small warehouse but never went through with it. I think the reason mainly was I was more afraid of suprise visits from fire marshall and/or other state people. what should Ibe looking for in terms of a place that won't be inviting alot nosy state personel.

for the owner of the property to carry insurance, he needs to have his property inspected.....

best thing is to look for one and ask when the last time it was inspected and go from there.....

ask when it when the last inspected and look for inspection seals on fire extinguishers...

if the warehouse is in a densely populated area of warehouses, the inspections usually don't happen as often....

ive been fortunate enough to NOT have any inspectors except once in the 5-6 years i ran warehouses.....

they were able to have a VERY NICE xmas because of me....

Fire Marshall stops by our shop and building I work for fairly often. Bribes I am sure help if you are running a grow. It will also help to have all your construction up to code.

If you build a warehouse structure on private property does it still have to be inspected?

Im pretty sure that depends on where you live. If you are in the US, then most likely. The state I live in requires inspections and permits for EVERYTHING.

Commercial property always runs the risk of inspection EVEN if you own it entirely. That is why growers blow out private residences. Way more privacy.

if you build-out a big sealed room with locked door inside the warehouse.. they dont have to inspect that do they? Especially if your space isn't listed as a business. Even if it's not a business I know they can have inspections for insurance purposes but they wouldn't need to inspect the big sealed room(s) that the tenant properly constructs would they?

the first thing you should do is ask. Ask whatever governmental entity has jurisdicition about their inspections. Tell them that the warehouse you plan on renting is for personal reason rather than a commercial one. Might make a difference.

Inspections however, aren't a guaranteed thing. Some counties don't have building inspectors, and fire inspections are not required. Hell, there are some fire districts around where i live who wont piss on your fire unless you bought a fire tag. Sure they will come out and make sure the fire wont spread, but they wont lift a finger to stop it.

Really the only way you're going to get your question answered is by putting in the time to make calls and doing some research. Dont hurt to go around and ask some of the business owners where you wish to grow.
