how do breeders maintain breeding stock?

Guess I've never given this thought,

in traditional breeding clones are kept... with autos, how do breeders continue to maintain seed stock for autos, if the autoflowering plant cannot be kept???


I was planning on making some F2 freebies, but got me thinking if I wanted to make more seed, my only choice is to use the F2 to make F3, or buy more original stock.

I'm scratching my head on this
