How do breeder get a value for yield per square meter

i know the question sounds kinda stupid and worded really weird. well what im asking is this. most breeders quote their strains as "350-400g p.s.m" or our more commerical variety as "500-600g p.s.m". well here is my question, what size light are we talkin about. is it 350-400g p.s.m using a 400 watt light, 600w light, or maybe a 1k watter? i know that endless sky(by greenthumb seeds or something like that) quotes "xx-xxg's p.s.m. using 400 watt hid" so they specifically said how many grams it would yield in a square meter using a 400 watt lamp.

so here is the question. what do most seed breeders use as the given size light in their "p.s.m" equations????

I would generally think that they grow on a larger area (2-3m²) with say a 1000w lamp and then divide the total yield by whatever to get the yield/m² :chin:

can anyone back that up? i mean thats what i always figured, just like a huge ass room and flower them all in there, but when i read that whole Endless Sky strain report and how the breeder specifically said using a 400watt light for 1 sq. meter, would equal some 300-400g's it made me think. again, anyone know for sure?

Th Seeds stated in their older catalogue (2000) that all g per sqm results were made using a 600 watt light source (HID) on 1 sqm

LMAO same here bro...lol...

yeah, i have to agree... maybe under the most ideal conditions, with the most intense light, no stress whatsoever, could a plant(s) produce 300+ grams in a square meter of space...

i'd be dancing a jig if i yielded 200 grams from a square meter of grow space...

easy, now me - I can piss it
bear in mind they say its a sog with 9 plants per square foot > (2 litre soda bottles)
in 1 square metre you can get 81 plants
300g / 81 = 3.7g per plant

my sq mtre + 600w lamp (organic)
holds 50 sog average 10g per plant after 12 days veg
500g per sq metre

maybe they just lie.....hahaha

i dont buy strains for their gpm rating anyway
but i can see how these ratings(whether real or not ) produce sales

by the same token i will do about 1/4 lb. in 2.3 sq. ft. of space with a 150hps
the strain: apollo 11 from rez....then again i get about the same with all my strains
i dont think i am doing anything special tho, just trying to grow me some good smoke

This is 1m²:

I've never had as many plants in there as I have this time (generally just half of that) and have alway been somewhere between 150-200g. I'd say that looking at that I would deffinately get at least 300g this time, so the 300g mark isn't aaaaaaaal that far fetched IMHO as I've not even grown for that long and I'm sure that others here would do much better under given circumstances :chin:
