How dark is dark enough?

Like the title says, how dark is dark enough for a grow room? Will things like the led on a humidifier mess things up? What about tiny cracks around the door that aren't sealed despite my best efforts? When I first shut myself in there it seems perfectly dark, but after my eyes adjust I can still see a few leaks.

Thats good enough! I have some leaks to and they still flower away with no hermaphrodites.
I think the total darkness thing is just over kill... think the moon...

Just tape over the lights if you are worried. A Great way to seal doors is to use panda plastic as kind of a sweep all the way around the inside of the door. You tape it so when you close the door it will fold around the edges and seal almost all the light in. But like stated, the light thing is a little over the top in regards to hermies. Can't tell you how many times I have turned on the light to check plants over the years without one herm. I also have lights from controllers, etc..

they sell rolls of 2 mill black sheet at hardware stores, not thick enough for light proof but you can use it in layers and theres alot for 6 bucks and mine had a 4 dollar rebate

Some strains are more sensitive to light leaks than other. For example, the Sour Diesel clone is a notoriously hard strain to grow for this reason.
