I might have a layover in Amsterdam.... like 5 hours. Are there cannabis places nearby? I have no idea.

i have taken the train from schiphol to amdam, the center area or whatever. 20 mins sounds about right, for the time it takes. taking the train is real easy stuff, frankly, you probably don't even need to buy a ticket, since they've never checked mine the times ive done this, but then, that would be morally wrong, ha. you should have plenty of time to make it to a shop and smoke. i like the grey area very much. i'd suggest you go there. amdam central area is pretty small, it can be slightly tricky to find your way around there, especially is super stoned. but i think you'll have plenty of time to do this.

Take that train and buy a ticket if you feel like it lol.
Make sure you stop off at Barneys and Pink Floyd. Probably my favourite coffeeshops in amsterdam.
Their Caramella Cream hash was melty and oh so good

Awesome!
I want to try some heavy hitting indica. Smoke that and melt in my chair. I don't know. We'll see. Its kinda funny since this flight, if I buy it, has layovers going and returning...in amsterdam. so i can smoke on the way, and smoke on the way back.
20 minutes doesn't sound bad for a little train ride. cool stuff.

I want to go to Amsterdam so bad. How long of a flight is it from lets say Florida?

Yeah take the train into the center - 20 minutes.
When you come out of the station head North West for about 300 yards to Warmoestraat - that puts you on the edge of the red light district - where there are lots of coffee shops. If you go North along Damrak - you'll probably be paying a bit over the odds but technically speaking those coffee shops are a bit closer. If I remember rightly, there's a reggae coffee shop that's real close to the station - North East of it as you come out - that's pretty good but if you've got a few hours you could visit a fair few coffee shops in that time as long as you don't get serious couchlock from your first joint - which always seems to happen to me.
Advance warning - if you do go into the red light area - be careful not to get lost - those canals can start to look the same when seriously stoned. I always get lost when I go and I've been 6 times..or is it 7..?

well, i have flown to europe from FL and i usually take the virgin atlantic flight from orlando to london which goes twice daily and is the cheapest way to go, it is a 9 hr flight. then from london to amsterdam, it is an hour and a half. so it is about 10-12 hrs. just flying time, maybe 5-10 hrs for standing in line and layovers. for a pot head, going to amsterdam is fucking amazing. there is nothing like going into a coffee shop, buying a bag of the best weed in the world, then walking out to the canal to roll it up and burn.

5 hours lay over is PLENTY! (Even a 2 hour lay over is sufficient to head off to the center if you wanted.)
The train from Schipol to the center of AMS is 20 min, costs about 3 Euros, and very convieniant.
Go to The Seedbotique (a 10 min walk from the train station) if you arrive during the day and the Gray Area coffee shop is opposite. As well as others very close by.

google "amsterdam airport cannabis" ... .the page i found didn't talk about any cannabis shops in the airport so...

Transport from the airport
A Direct Rail Link connects Schiphol International Airport to Amsterdam central station and is the fastest and most convenient way to get to the city center. Trains run every 10 minutes (airport train schedule) from platforms 1 and 2 in the main arrival plaza and cost just € 3.60 for a single journey. Have change on hand to use the ticket machines to avoid the lines and € 0.50 surcharge at the ticket office. From October 2005 a fine of 35 Euro will be added to the fare if you do not have a valid ticket with you on the train.
