What's new
  • ICMag with help from Landrace Warden and The Vault is running a NEW contest in November! You can check it here. Prizes are seeds & forum premium access. Come join in!

how can they say "no purchase necessary"

around here we get t-shirts in budweiser 24's, hats, gloves, shirts ect.. in mooshead beer 24's

they advertise it as: "free t-shirt or hat in every limited edition 24 box, no purchase necessary!"

you have to purchase the 24 obviously.. are they just telling you the t-shirt is free after your initial purchase?? Sometimes I dont get it

for legal reasons, since it's a contest for something "Free" i do believe they have to allow people the right to get it for "Free." Which often means sending in a postcard to budweiser with youre information and MAYBE they will hook you up.

thats what I think

It's actually illegal to advertise something as "free" when it isn't. Meaning that when companies sell products with a marketing stunt like "20% free" or similar, you have the legal right to take that 20% without paying.

You might get shot by the store clerk while trying, but you'll win the following trial.

it's law. for example, when mcdonald's does the monopoly thing, they have to give you a certain amount of free game pieces if you request them through the mail

In the situation you set forth you should be able to redeem a coupon that the store clerk probably has back there, or find out online, at the very most you'd need to do is to find the local distributer and request a coupon through them if there aren't any available where I'd mentioned above.

It's the perfect situation to have a 'non' drinker of their product wearing their name, you'll give up an address where you'll likely find other promos from time to time. They'll try to win you over.

The wording of that ad intends to give to anyone requesting in a timely manner (w/in the promo time period) to get free gear. Go for it.......

That is pretty much it. Most of these things have instructions to get your free gift via the postal system, on your dime of course.
But on a side note, I really do not drink at all, so in the summer, I tend to keep some beer in the fridge for company that might be over, I make my brand selections based on t shirt availability. You can always use a beer branded shirt
