How can I tell when my autoflower is flowering?

Hi all, this is my first grow. I'm growing one northern lights AF and four skunk #1 regular. The AF is around three weeks old now, I used a commercial potting soil up to now but I have some bloom nutes ready for when it starts flowering.

So far, so good, the plant is really nice and short and bushy and everything looks healthy. Can anyone tell me what the main indicator of flowering will be so that I know to change the light spectrum and feed it?

Thank you very much. Those images were all very helpful. Looks like my preflowers are a few days behind the ones there but it definitely looks like I have a female. Should I put her under the flowering light now? Or wait until flowering is more firmly established?

If they are an autoflowering strain then just keep them at long day ratios (18-20 hours light) and they will flower without any change in light.

I personally would. If you see signs of flower get that spec changed out. I did it at the first pre- flower i saw and am glad that i did. My last run was my first run at an auto so i really was pleased with the results.

I assume you are growing everything under the same light? If so, then you will need to switch to 12/12 to flower the Skunks. Even thought autos do better with more light, like 20/4, I'd wait until you are ready to flower the Skunks and then switch the light cycle.

Autos do ok under 12/12 as well. My last run of snowryders flowerd under 12/12 pretty much the whole time. Yeilded more per plant than the F1 generation under 20/4. If that means anything to anyone.

I would keep them under lots of light though, i had to do 12/12 based on necessity, not choice.

Yeah I am, using two 250w CFLs (one red, one blue) but the Auto is about two weeks ahead of the skunks but it will start flowering much earlier. Was thinking of splitting the room when the Skunks are ready to flower and keeping one mother plant, adding some supplementary red spectrum lighting in the mortheroom for the AF while the skunks are in the dark cycle. Never growing AFs at the same time as normal plants again.
