the only true way to tell is basically germinate them. Try putting a few in a wet paper towel in a dark place for a day to see if a tap root emerges.

If one does you get to the next step determining sex which takes a while in veg I say about 1-2 weeks. Males have rods with balls at the nods and females have just spikes I would say.

Though if they are cracked and look dead they are probably dead.

I found some seeds that I had stashed in a box, about 15 - 20 years ago (been toking for 40). There was one or 2 ounces of seeds (most pot had seeds, way back when). I tried to germinate them and 4 made it! 2 male indicas and 2 female sativas. The bud from the gals was decent, but took forever to finish. I imagine the seeds were from some Mexican grown in the long hot summers down there. Pot is a tough plant. Slip those babies on a damp paper towel, put them in a baggie on top of the fridge and good luck! May your plants each give you a pound!

got lots 5-15yo bagseeds here just left in bag at room temp, colors ranging black to olive, only most recnt ones would sprout and rest just sat and molded, think maybe most were killed from heat drying, with bagseed i think the thing to ask is what did she cross with to make the seeds maybe hermie maybe something else.

Order some new seeds from SeedBay or The Bo.... get some Nirvana White widow for $15 or better yet buy a SB 4 pack special.

I say this because there is nothing worse than spends hours and hours of love on your plants only to have them hermie or to have them just plain suck in potency.

Even my 1st grow was known seeds and I wish they were $15 back then :pointlaug after all if you are risking your freedom your reward should be worth it... mine always is.

grow safe Silly :joint:

White seeds = immature
Brownish seeds = ok
Black seeds = probably dead from fermentation
cracked seeds = probably not good either but depends on its color

I have some skunk#1 seeds that I made myself about five years ago. I still get about 50% germination rate.

Go for it!
