Almost anything acidic will lower the pH, but to find the best approach you should check out the Organic Hydro section (in Growers Forums) and see what others use.
I used to use Aluminum Sulfate and it worked without any issues. I bought it from a local nursury/garden supply for like $5. I asked on this board if this was safe to use and I was told that the aluminum can be bad, but I did not experience any negative issues. I later tried to get the "organic version" which was just pure sulfate, but the small sulfate pellets would not dissolve in the water rendering it useless to me.
I'm currently using lemon juice but I'm having major issues with pH right now. Also, I hear that vinegar is bad because it won't keep the pH down for long.
