How big should be my res? Andhow often will I change water?

I'm planning on growning 5 plants on a 2x2 space. If I make a res with 36"x36"x6" res that would amount up to 33 gallons of water. Having the fact that a bigger res means lesser water changes as it is more stable and makes a better choice. But I'm thinking if 5 gallons would be ok.
I've read guys that don't change their res. Some change it only once when changing to flowering stage.
some suggest to change it only after 4 weeks so that benefial microbes can grow.
I'm planning on using chemical nutes as this would be a DWC system, but would like the idea of letting bennies thrive to avoid bad bacteria from growing. :D
What I've read through the internet are these: bigger res means lesser changes, nute consumption increases during the blooming stage.
So guys, If I would be setting up a dwc system on a 2'x2' space growing 5 plants. How big should be my res?

What nutes are you planning on using?

Some are way out of balance... but work if you maintain a steady pH. In that case... the larger the res, the better.

I've always grown using Lucas Formula methods and GH nutes. With that method you're looking for a pH swing that occurs around a weeks time. I don't change my res out the entire flowering period... no need.

400w uses approximately a 10gal reservoir. I would go around 30gal for a 600 and 40-50 for a 1Kw.

What wattage lighting are you thinking of?

I'm still scanning stores around here, and there are no brands that you use :p
I've seen chemical and organic nutes BTW.
(I live in the Philippines so I have to be very resourceful.

Lucas is approximately

n 130
p 106
k 183
Mg 73

Don't quote me on it as I'd have to double check. Any nutrient close to that profile should be adequate to start with. Have to try your luck with different products there.

Hi Iamoni,
You don't say whether you're growing in soil - coco or Hydroton.
If it's full hydro with Hydroton, you need 5-6 Ltr of nutes per plant to give you a bit of buffer. You have more of a buffer with other mediums.
Hope it works out for you!
Stay safe
