thinking of getting a tent. 3'x3'x6.5'. how big of a fan do i need to vent this area with an air cooled light? 600 HPS is the light I would use in there. what size filter too? any suggestions for best price and product. Many thanks.

my last cab was that size
i used a can66 and a vortex 6in

i have since added another 600w to the mix and it still works
so that may have been overkill before
of course when it comes to smell is there really to much you can do LOL

have fun :smoweed:

4" ecoplus will do it just fine. I've seen a 4x4x7 tent with a non air cooled 600 watt and they had to use a speed controller to turn it down most of the time. Only using it on full during the hottest months of the summer. But for compatibility reasons, you could always get a 6" with a speed controller and turn it down.

cool guys thanks. how loud is a 6" opposed to a 4" ? I can pick up a 6" ecoplus for under a cnote. I have a speed controller for a 6", but if I can get by with a 4" for sound purposes it would be way better.

THis seems to be a matter of numbers more than anything else. You should be able to vent your entire grow space every 4 minutes at the least.

I will use Vortex fans in my examples, because that's what I'm familiar with, but these nu,mbers apply to any fan. 3x3x6.5 = 58.5 cubic feet, we'll call it 60 cubic feet. If the fan is running at half power (we'll assume that you're using a filter and have some bends in your duct work on the way out), then a 4" vortex that is rated at 147 cfm would be running at about 75 cfm. That means that with good internal circulation, the fan would clear your room about every 50 seconds or so. A 6" vortex fan that's rated for 450 cfm, would be running at around 225-250 conservatively speaking, so it would clear your 60 cubic foot room out like 3.5-4 times per minute.

This all depends on the amount of duct work you're pushing through, the filter you use, etc. Do you want a louder fan to come on for 20 seconds or a quieter fan to come on for a minute? I personally think it's easier to conceal a 4" fan's noise for a minute at a time than a 6" fan's noise for 20 seconds at at time.

A 4" fan would be great if it is indeed big enough because they're so damn quiet, but if pushing/pulling through lots of shit, then a 6" would be better, just to be safe.

Thanks B. I picked up a 6" ecoplus rated at 340 cfm. I imagine it should do the job. I can always dampen the sound of the fan. How would the noise from this compare to 8" Canfan? Anyone know?

A 6" eco fan is pretty quiet ( I think mine is 365cfm?) and it vents a room that's 8x5x8 hooked up to my home made carbon filter. I have one of those ceiling exhaust fans bringing in fresh air which is perfect for creating negative pressure... I unfortunately cannot air cool my two 1000's AND use the filter, but this being a cooler time of year, I'm getting away with it for now...

Save yourself some money. Search online for wholesale carbon. I paid $70 (shipped) for a 5 gal bucket full which is 25lbs. I've got more than 20 plants in there, half in full, almost done bloom and can't smell shit until I unzip my space...
