How accurate are at-home drug tests?

Hey guys, just found I landed my dream job. I piss in 3 weeks.

I have about 22% BF and so I assume I'll hold the good stuff in my blood for a long time. I'll go the synthetic route if I have to but I'd rather not. I have to do a full physical prior to the piss test, so any intimate exam might make that a bit...nervy.

How accurate are the home tests? If I can pass one then fuck it, right?

Thanks!

I don't know if it's true or not but I've heard those home tests are about as accurate as the real basic "dip" tests these places do but not as accurate as the full blown lab tests they do.

I think they are good for a guide but from everything I've read they are fairly accurate. From what I understand it's all about the cut-off level and I think employers can test to any amount they choose/pay for at the lab. The home test kits detect to 50ng/mL but the lab test can detect lower levels. I have heard at the lab they do an initial test and if it tests over a certain threshold then they test further at lower levels to verify with a more sensitive test.

Here is the info from Quest. I'm sure most places are similar.

I have been clean for almost 2 months now and I go for a walk in clinic urine test in a few days. I'm nervous that even after passing 2 at home drug tests that I will still fail. Even after not smoking for so long I'm worried that because I am a bigger person that It will stay in my system for a longer amount of time.

I use them to pre-screen before taking the real one at the lab, and they are pretty accurate. Every time I've pre-tested for cannabis and came up clean, the lab test did too.

I had one come up dirty, but it was borderline, like you could just barely see the line. Waited two days, it was clean and the lab test was too.
I used the ones they sell at Walgreens.

These were the piss test. I have no clue if you'd still pas a saliva test.

So I have been reading about this subject for no specific reason as I am self employed.

So the first test is litmus paper type and that is just an initial screen. It has a high cut off point for thc and is prone to both false positives and false negatives. If a person test positive on the initial screen it will be sent to a lab where they perform gc ms test. Apparently these test are the benchmark and are considered dead balls accurate by everyone that matters.

So hear this... A person could have a false positive for some drug or just have a prescription drug in their system. The sample is sent the the lab. Your thc level may have been 70ng ml and the litmus test didn't get it. The gc ms test will cut off at 20ng ml. I am simplifying the whole thing, but google what I say to become familiar with the process and use it to your advantage.

Protonix is in a family of drugs that can test positive on the initial litmus test. It will be sent to the lab and they will see that it is not cannabinoids. Other drugs that can give a false positive litmus are Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs in higher doses and these include Napraxen and Ibuprophen, Advil for instance. These drugs are called NSAIDs.

If you test positive for a drug, like thc, you will be contacted on the phone by an MRO. That is a medical review officer and it is a licensed and legal title. Their job is primarily to verify the chain of custody was not mishandled. The test results are in black and white in front of them so there is very little need to be a doctor. It is more of a Lawyer type of job than a medical job if you ask me.

So this MRO sees thc in your urine. The ONLY reason for thc in your system is if you have cancer or aids and been prescribed Marinol. No other answer will save you. You cannot say passive smoke you cannot say medical, you cannot say recreational. Those answers are not allowed. This is a standardized process and approved by the Federal US Government. What the MRO decides is the what it is. Nobody can argue it so don't try. They spend all day listening to people using every excuse you can think of and there is no reason legally to have thc in your system or any other schedule I or II drugs. If the cutoff that is agreed upon is 20ng ml that is very low. That is a non smoker taking a hit at a party for the hell of it.

Please google the stuff I posted to get the absolute word. If you pass the litmus test, most times there is no need to send it to the lab because that would have an obvious added expense. The major laboratories are businesses and therefor will not send a specimen to the lab unless it is positive in the initial screen.

One key is if you are taking Protonix or any of that family of drugs do not take it a couple days prior to testing if you can. That way you will pass the litmus that has a higher natural cutoff than the lab test. I think if they have to go to the lab with it they want to get you because you are costing them money.
