Hovz is building a Grow Cabinet

Okay so after being inactive on the forums for a couple years i've come crawling back. This time i've decided i want to grow small scale cabinet style. My goal is to produce enough for myself to smoke a few bowls a day, nothing too outlandish i think this is an obtainable goal.

Okay so lets talk dimensions. I decided to go with a 4 foot wide x 2 foot deep overall dimensions. I cut the actual framing shorter to account for the plywood so the overall dimensions in the end would be 2'x4'

I'm trying to spend as little money as possible on this grow, seeing as how i have a shit ton of grow equipment and tools and fasteners i don't think this will be a problem.

Total cost so far:
2 x 1/2' sheets of plywood 20$(second hand from a friend)
2 x 2x4 Doug fir 6$
Stainless steel fasteners 0$(had them laying around)
Total: 26$ I'm sure this will go up before its over but if i can keep it around 100$ that would be cool.

This is how far i am, im gonna cut the sides and attach those then put the back on next, its a slow process, trying to make it turn out decent. Keep in mind im just using a skillsaw and skill, no table saw in this guys shop.

Nice projects looks like you're off to a good start.

Thanks MicroRoy, appreciate the post now i know i got atleast one person watching my shenanigans.

Okay so i've been lurking this forum for many years, ive seen all different types of setups. This cabinet design stems from the ~OG SALVAGE~ TICK'S SOGG'N BOX PARTS 1-4. Its come to my attention just recently that i miss growing weed, and the weed i grow is so much better than the weed people sell me. So here i am building this grow box. The Growbox will reside in my bedroom, right next to where i sleep. Infact my TV will probably sit ontop of the box itself.

Here's some more pictures of my progress.

Sides and back are cut.

This is how i will fasten the rest of the project.

Threw some castor wheels on there for fun.

Got the top fastened on, as you can see it needs some beefing up in front, notice the concave.

How tall are you going for? I'm about to build a 4*2 box myself. What are your thoughts on the doors?

I went exactly 4' high just like Tick's box. My thoughts on the doors is just makesure that all of your sides line up evenly because the doors will be where you leak light if you do. And to lightproof them i might use weather stripping and or trim boards that the door can shut tight against, or a combination of weather stripping and trim boards. My plan as of rightnow is to make two doors that will open just like a regular cabinet. Handles, a lock. I Have hinges laying around hopefully they will work for the doors.

I will post pictures when i get to this stage, so you can get an idea of what im really talking about, but basically what im saying is you dont want any gaps around your doors, however you attach them, and for me im going to do two doors just because i think it will be easier on the hinges. The door will not stretch the entire length of the cabinet, only the bottom portion where the plants will be. Thanks for stopping by Lostenspace makesure u start a thread when you build your cabinet so i can follow along.

This is far as I've gotten today. I'll finish the first coat of paint tonight. Any asshole with some basic tools can do the same thing I am. Build a grow cabinet for next to nothing and supply yourself with weed and maybe enough for a couple buddys. So far my total cost today was 50 dollars counting lunch and 2 redbulls. I have alot of the things I need on hand because I've had the idea to build this for a while in my head, I've been gathering supply at local garage sales and estate sales just solely for this purpose. I suggest If your trying to build this on a budget do the same.
Total cost so far: $50.00
