Hot Weather Strains

Summer time can create headaches for any indoor grower. Especially those of us that live in tropical climates. During these summer months I have a hard time keeping my cab temps under 85F.
I am looking for a good summertime strain and I have read some growers reports suggesting that some strains actually prefer a higher temp. I am assuming that I will have to lean toward the Sativa side.
Lets hear about your high temp strain experiences. Can anyone recommend heat tolerant strains? Sativas, Indicas and crosses?

Thanks

Heat makes sativas more airy...a lot of indicas grow in areas with really hot climates too, interestingly enough. if you can keep humidity down you can do some indicas. i know someone who grows in the tropics and he keeps his ac on 24/7...he has some of the densest, dankest and tastiest bud I've ever seen, too...his last crop was Nirvana Ice (DWC w/ FoxFarm).

I grow outdoors in the tropics and none of my strains really have any major problems with the heat, even when it gets up into the 90s.

Try most any of the Mandala strains. Talk to Mandala Mike in his forum, his strains were built to handle the heat. I recently grew Hashberry and it stood up to mid 90 temps, and the herb is superb. Mike also has test grows in greenhouses that had consistent temps well over 100.

That is tough growing indoors with high temps....

Be careful also with how much nutrients you feed your plants. Heat definitely affects nutrient uptake.

When I first dealt with high temps people recommended using co2; it worked but it's a killer.
Then I was told that high temps can be okay with low humidity and lots of fresh air. sometimes.

I dealt with a white russian and a hog that would grow no matter what. Right now this hash plant I have will withstand the pepsi challenge. It was crossed with a South African though.

Thanks everyone. I'm flowering an AK-48 right now and she does not like the heat. All the middle leaves are curling and drying out. I have a large enough cab that I can really do some training so I will definately have to look into some of Mandala's sativas. Does anyone else have any recommendations? Thanks

Reefer mentioned that Nigerian Nightmere would stand hot temps and cool nights , as well as finishes fast in northern climates .

I deal with the same problems in summer. My temps are 85-90. I'm currently not having any problems with White Russian or my Sour Diesel from Rez. Hope that helps a little.

great info safari thank you.

I've cursed breeders for years for not making strains that could handle the south. so much land with so many willing growers and so few strains that can fit the bill

Blockhead is VERY resistant to high temps.

Even in high temps she stays quite dense, and quite frosty.

Here is a Blockhead that was grown in temps hitting up to 100 F, and lots of other abuse.

Wow! I knew that there were some heat tolerant strains out there. But I didn't think that there was that many. Thanks to all for the great in info.
