Hot Shot pest strip.

I see lots of warnings on this product and wanted to know if it is unsafe for a budding plant. Do the chemicals that it emits, harm the plant/buds in any way? Killed 5 fungus gnats this morning. It is the most I have encountered at one time so I hauled ass to get the strip and am worried that the chemical composition could be harmful. Thank you in advance to all with advice/feedback on this dilemma.

I use em and havent seen or tasted a difference. Here is the thing. some say they are harmful some say they are not. What i do is to not make it an issue. When lights go out plants arent taking in CO2, you need light for photosynthesis . So as long as you put them in during the 12 hours dark then there is no way for them to effect a plant since plant aint breathing at the time.

Ya, be practical in use...limited exposure and for only as long as needed. (yank it a few days after the last critter sighting)

Some folks use them as a prevention and have them hanging 24/7. We hope to still be hearing from them in their golden years.

the chemical doesn't hurt plants at all. it has a short half-life in a room, somewhere between 24-36 hours and it's totally gone. I would avoid using it too late in flower unless absolutely necessary, but i wouldn't worry if i did have to use it. It'll be totally gone by the time the plants are dry for sure. It doesn't accumulate in plants or animals. the active ingredient is called Dichlorvos, do a search. don't hang around too much in the room when it is hanging cuz it is a carcinogen.

You guys are great!!! I appreciate it immensely. I have had one or two gnats here and there but this mornings explosion scared me a little. So close, I just don't want to screw it up now. Thanks again.

That could be a problem then. I have a couple of animals but they aren't allowed in my "room". However, I am afraid of it traveling along the air currents in a concentration that would be harmful to them. I will continue to use the spray I have on the soil and if these bastards double in population, I will break out the strip. G/f would :asskick: if I indirectly harmed her animals.

Well, this was in my garage. Grow room is semi-sealed by itself, panda plastic, and the guinea pig's cage was on the other side of garage. I left it in for 3 days and nights. Big mistake, pig was lack-luster. I should have put tow and two together. If you just put it in at lights off with door closed it would work if it was a dire emergency. Likes if mites were really bad. Fungas gnats? Not worth it.

You might wanna consider changing to a BTi product (like gnatrol, mosquito dunks, ect) to get rid of fungus gnats. NPS won't kill em nearly as effectively since they live below the soil during alot of their life. Also, get a couple yellow sticky traps to catch the adults. The combo of BTi and sticky traps will end your problems...and it's a totally natural approach

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to MTF-Sandman again? What does that mean and who was that directed towards?

and he had already given him rep and has to give more to others
before he can give it to MTF again

A buddy sent me a rep note telling me to remove my no pest strip when he saw it hanging prominently in one of my veg garden pics :D I had my doubts about the advice, frankly
I was having problems rooting, and germing (but that's nothing new...lol) and some of my babies were struggling.....

I've seen major improvement since removing it from the garden....

Ive been using no pest strips for a few years constantly,24/7, and Ive never had a single problem with my grows and my brain still seems to function as abnormally as it always did LOL.

Just put it in my indoor (for the first time) 2 days ago to clear up a spider mite problem that 3 rounds of einstein oil could not handle. So far the mites are gone, but I am hesitant to remove it for fear of the mites coming back (am in the 3rd week of flwr)...my question is, if I was to take it out in a few days is it possible to store? The package states it is viable for 3 months...any ideas
